Re: More School Guardians?

As a former teacher, teacher's spouse, and a School Safety instructor I think the DPS needs to revisit the School Safety curriculum. I find that the educators I teach already have a good grasp on the ADD. It is pretty standard in-service training, if not every year, every couple of years. I too woul...

Anybody use a Molle seatback organizer?

I just bought a new truck and after driving the old one for 22 years, I had accumulated a lot of stuff. Some of it is junk and trash but a lot of it is what I consider essentials. Some of the problem was stuffing something in "just in case" when I already had three stuffed somewhere, i.e. ...

Re: Mean streets of Dallas - Texas State Fair shooting

For those that have been to the Fair this year, have you noticed a change in their security procedures going through the gates? We've been the last 3 years. Year 1 - Entered through the stockman's gate both days. Never had anyone question, look at our tickets, or even glance our way. I guess they t...

Re: Mean streets of Dallas - Texas State Fair shooting

The State Fair allows Licensed Concealed Carry. They do not allow open carry or permitless carry. We were down there a couple of weeks ago. As you enter you go through a metal detector. I showed the attendant my LTC card and he, politely, escorted me to the police officer. The officer looked at my c...

Re: Need help with old Sears electric breaker box and breakers

Pull the bad breaker and get the information off it or take it with you to the hardware/electrical supply store. Have you also checked the AC disconnect box outside? Some of them contain fuses. While a breaker can go bad, I've found it's usually a fuse (if there is one) in the disconnect box. Main b...

Re: IF You Could Only Have One Gun

I'll assume we are talking about the current world, go-about-my-normal-business, EDC carry. I'd probably go with a Glock, either a 17 or 21. I don't really like the way they fit my hand but I could get used to it. Reliability, parts, yada, yada, yada... I carry and train with Springfield XDs normall...

Re: Attorney for Gun Trust

This is the attorney I'm going to use. I don't know him, but I saw his presentation in a Texas Continuing Education seminar. I was impressed. Chas. https://texasguntrust.com/ That's who I use. Pretty cut and dried. Spoke with him briefly when I was about to turn in the paperwork. Very approachable.

Battle Belt Question

I'm considering getting a battle belt...considering.... Honestly I haven't given them much thought. At best I kind of dismissed them when I saw folks using them for training as I try to stay true to how I carry everyday. Even then, for serious training or when I go to training classes I end up weari...

Re: Superintendent leaves gun in restroom

I'm not as concerned as to the legality of "open carry" versus "concealed carry" as I am about the gentleman leaving the gun accessible to children. There is absolutely no excuse for that! Yes. That point was obvious and made. There should be almost no discussion on the actual l...

Re: Superintendent leaves gun in restroom

I don't remember exactly what the laws are, but they were in place before open carry, and therefore it's possible that there is no distinction. The board sets the policy. If the board says the superintendent and principal can open carry, then I suppose they can. I believe "campus carry" f...

Superintendent leaves gun in restroom

https://www.everythinglubbock.com/news/state-regional/texas-3rd-grader-finds-gun-superintendent-left-in-school-bathroom/ Other than the obvious error of leaving a gun, the article states that he open carried at school. Or maybe I'm reading it wrong or, quite possibly, reported wrong. Even with perm...

Re: B27E targets

A quick image search found a few instructors that APPEAR to be using the wrong target for LTC qualifications. Mostly B27E but one LH101. It can't be determined for certain what they are actually using during the class without being in the class but the images, and supportive text, seem to indicate t...
