Most of what's been caught around here was people going around at 1-3AM fishing through mailboxes, apparently on the theory that anything left in the box at that time wouldn't be missed for a while.Dave2 wrote:I have no problem with mail tampering remaining illegal (in fact I'd prefer it did stay that way), but there's really nothing to stop it from going on right now. Most people work during the day, so they probably won't be rushing out to get their mail as it's delivered. You could probably count on nobody seeing what you're doing for the same reason.

Re: Post Office Law Suit to Repeal Carry Rule
The other thing they tend to get right is flat rate; for about $6 I can send a flat-rate small box that gets to nearly anywhere in 3-4 business days, pay online, print the label, and send it from my mailbox just like a letter at no extra charge. UPS ground 3-day service tends to cost about double that for a 1-pound package, plus $5-6 if I want them to pick it up from my house.LAYGO wrote:One word for you:sjfcontrol wrote:I wonder if the lawsuit will outlast the USPS? They have been of questionable usefulness for some time. NOBODY mails letters anymore. Few people receive or pay bills by mail. It's just a way to deliver junk you don't want anyway.

Until they stop moving the stamp machine to a different hidden corner every few months, I have no choice but to hunt every time I go to the post office.Charles L. Cotton wrote:You cannot hunt in a Post Office so the "hunting" exception is not applicable to Post Offices.

I can't do any of the above if I'm dead or robbed, so it's certainly necessary to all of those that I do things like breathe and protect my wallet and keys from BGs.Charles L. Cotton wrote:The only things you are going to legally do in a Post Office is 1) buy postage; 2) ship something; or 3) check your post office box.

Re: Post Office Law Suit to Repeal Carry Rule
Am I only "engaged in hunting" when I pull the trigger, or when I'm walking through the woods looking for game as well? Condition yellow indicates actively watching for threats, so it would seem to be "engaging in self defense."Charles L. Cotton wrote:Some have argued that you are carrying it "incident to" lawful self-defense, but this argument fails because you are not engaged in self-defense when you walk into a Post Office. You are prepared to engage in self-defense if attacked, but you are not engaged in the act of self-defense when you enter the post office.
