When I was a student pilot, my instructor said to check the winds aloft to see if they are as forecast (direction and velocity). If they aren't then the weather forecast is worthless.

Wow in my 26 years of flying it never ceases to amaze me what I don't know. That makes perfect sense to me. I will start incorporating that into my preflight planning. Thanks Charles
