Re: Need a holster carry position recommendation

Thank you to everyone for their responses. I've decided to go with an FBI cant at 3:30. That allows the gun grip to sit just in front of my side bolsters in my car while keeping the slide just behind my hip. I'm leaning towards one of the Garrett leather lined holsters to protect my equinox finish. ...

Re: Need a holster carry position recommendation

Thank you for the responses. Carlson1, I do pocket carry from time to time. But it depends greatly on what I'm wearing. RHenriksen, I have that holster shirt (and I highly recommend it), but I find that I can only reliably draw with a button up shirt that allows me to draw across instead of up. C-du...

Need a holster carry position recommendation

Hi. I carry a Sig P938 Equinox with a crimson trace laserguard. I do not carry at work during the week (hospitals). I mainly carry during the evening and on weekends. I am very thin and I have found that I cannot carry in a car from 3:30 to MOB without it being painful. Appendix carry doesn't work e...

Re: Church Carry: Yes or No?

My understanding regarding airports is that you can carry there, but not inside the security perimeter through which travelers must pass. Yes, that was my understanding, too. However, we were informed that if you have a LEO encounter anywhere on airport property, you can pretty much expect to have ...

Re: Church Carry: Yes or No?

OK...here's the list of "Never Carry Sites" and "You Can Decide Sites" as written on the blackboard of my CHL class. In case it matters, this was before the '09 changes were published. Never Carry: Bars - 51% and consumed Federal - post office, etc. Schools - events, transportati...

Re: Church Carry: Yes or No?

Thank you. Actually, my instructor gave us a list of "gray areas". I should post them here and find out if he was right (I'm guessing he wasn't).

Church Carry: Yes or No?

When I took my CHL class early this year, my instructor told us that churches, synagogues, and places of religious worship were "gray areas" where we needed to use our judgement. Even though the handbook we were using (from August 2008) listed these places as non-carry, we were instructed ...

Re: Prior to Having License in Hand....

My state representatives office was shocked to hear that Police Chief Rushin's own office was refusing to provide me with information. So while they called the DPS, I called the city attorney's office. I'm not sure exactly who said or did what, but 30 minutes later I got a call back from the state r...

Re: Prior to Having License in Hand....

OK, so I called my Texas State Reps office and told them that Plano PD is withholding my records. A while later, I get a call from Police Chief Rushin's office. I was told that I have to fill out an Open Records Request form in order to receive the Suspension Form and the officer's account of the tr...

Re: Prior to Having License in Hand....

The saga continues... Even though the attorney for Texas DPS dropped their case against me, I had already filed a complaint against the officer for maliciously pursuing my suspension even after I offered to provide him with an affidavit of my innocence from the DPS. Well they finished their review a...

Re: Rights of Employers OUTSIDE of company 'premises'

Outside of the company's premises there's virtually no way they'll find out you're carrying unless you need to use the gun to save your life. If that happens, I think it's better to be unemployed than dead. Absolutely. A previous manager of mine was carrying in a company car. He had his CHL and had...

Re: Prior to Having License in Hand....

On second thought, I'm going to write a letter to the attorney. I'm going to thank him for his discretion, and lay out the facts of the case. As long as I'm going to have this incident in their internal records (which he confirmed are confidential and cannot be expunged), I might as well have my sid...

Re: Prior to Having License in Hand....

Hello again. I just got off the phone with the attorney for the DPS. I thanked him for his letter first. I did not tell him that I was offended by the "cautionary" portion of the letter because I had a feeling that he didn't know the facts of my case. So then I asked him why they decided t...

Re: Prior to Having License in Hand....

Well, I received a letter today from the Texas DPS. Their attorney, after reviewing my file, has decided "not to pursue the suspension of (my) license based on that incident." The rest of the letter is a review of Texas Govt. Code 411.205a and the legal definition of "carrying" t...
