Re: "Waiting Room"

You’re supposed to send in supporting docs for any arrest you’ve ever had. Do you have anything? Did you report any charges on your online app? have you ever been arrested?

Still haven’t received any emails and DPS website doesn’t say anything.

Not sure where I am in the black hole.
Update: received email documents were received 04/12/2018
Update: finally showing up on website. Fingerprints and background check under review 04/13/2018
Update: I couldn’t stand the wait any longer so I logged onto DPS website and paid for my own background check. Sure enough, no surprises. It took me less than 10 minutes to create a new profile, pay the fee, and get the background. Also, my new fingerprint photo was on the results. So obviously the identgo photo is being logged. Point is, DPS have the info, prints and could pull the BG in less time. I don’t know what the hold up is...
The hold up is there’s thousands of reviews pending, & they don’t do the same type of background checks that you paid for (which is useless for them anyway). They look at federal, state, warrants, military, a ton of things. You said you submitted your certificate on 4/5/18- you’re being way too impatient.

Re: "Waiting Room"

If anyone lists anything at all on their application- traffic tickets, dismissed charges, arrests, altercations, minor issues, etc.- literally anything at all- those apps take super long & go through same process as a person with lots of major charges on Their records. They don’t process by age, gender, etc.

Re: "Waiting Room"

That is a disqualifier, so not surprising that you got a denial letter. It's a 5 year window on those.

Re: "Waiting Room"

Anyone with assaults on their record should always send a copy of the police report & written statement of who the victim was. (along with judgement)*if a conviction of course*

Re: "Waiting Room"

Anytime your application is sent to the Medical Advisory Board you're looking at a long delay, at a minimum 2 months.

I don't understand why his was faster since I was a week or more ahead of him but still waiting for background check under review to go away for the print. :banghead:
Prob because you have items on your background & your friend doesn't. Any arrests- Texas, out of state, federal, military, etc. Any warrants, any pending charges, any MAB stuff, being born out of country. ANY of these will delay you a lot compared to someone with none of these.

Re: "Waiting Room"

It takes much longer if you've ever had any arrests. & I mean ever- any time in your life no matter how long ago & no matter how minor.

Re: "Waiting Room"

Anyone who sent their stuff in late July & complaining when it's mid-August makes me laugh. Those that applied back in Nov '15-March '16 would really laugh. Anyone that's gets their license in less than 60 days should be appreciative & count your blessings.

oldtimer wrote:Would be interesting to know if those of us that are being kept waiting for an unusual length of time have anything in common. Are our apps being processed by the same person(s)? The inconsistencies from one applicant to another in terms of time is more than just a statistical anomaly. One would expect the wait times to level out but they don't. Some receive their plastic within a few weeks whereas others are forced to wait many months. Inquiring minds want to know.
If someone has a clean background vs someone who has had arrests (regardless of how far back & how serious) it DOES make a very big difference on time frame. It takes several months for those with records, where as those with no record takes a few weeks on average. Also, those that are born out of the country & send Permanent Resident Cards take longer as well. It also extends the time greatly if DPS has to send letters for missing forms, corrections on forms, etc. It also takes longer for those with out of state DL/ID's for the photos. There are lots of factors why not everyone has the exact same time frames.
