Correction please. John F. Kennedy didn't just 'say' that in passing. And that's really not what he said. John Kennedy once said, "Ask not what your government can do for you, but what you can do do for your government." Today maybe a better request would be, " ask not what your government can do for me, but what it can do for its good citizens."
The statement was made in his Inaugural Address on Friday, January 20, 1961
"...And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country...."
