Re: 2020 NRA Board Election

Mine's out in the mail waiting to be collected.
I voted for only two candidates. I see no sense in diluting my vote by spreading it among folks I don't really know.

Re: Know Your Target and What’s In-Between

I don't think he actually hit the hood, but the blast burned the paint off.

I was out with someone several years ago, and somebody started to brace their rifle on the car roof to shoot over it, and he stopped them and advised what would happen. He know from personal experience, it seems.

Hmmm wonder what would happen if I was carrying my AR15 Ghost Pistol with no serial number? :headscratch :headscratch :headscratch
Not saying that I have one but if I did...
Yeah, what's the deal if you have a firearm that has no serial #?

Just asking for a friend …

Re: WD40

I used to race sport cars and spent a lot of time cleaning and lubricating things. I generally think of WD40 as more of a solvent than a lubricant. It has its' place, and it's probably a better lubricant than nothing, but I use other things for my firearms.

Re: The war with Iran

Oh good, let’s get another war started spilling Americans’ blood and spending taxpayers’ money. Has not 20 years, thousands of lives lost, 10’s of thousands wounded and 2 trillion dollars spent taught the war hawks anything? There may be no really good choices here, but clearly some are worse than ...

Re: Suppressor build success

I seem to have sorted out all of my suppressor issues! A big part of the problem was that I wasn't keeping the proximal end cap (the one that connects to the rifle) tight enough. I'd cut my internal spacer a little long to allow for internal components to compress, and had not firmly tightened both ...

Re: New IRA

Three days is hardly a sufficient time to judge the merits of an investment in the stock market. Stocks go up, they go down, they go sideways. History shows that in the long run you're much better off to invest and stay invested. Scott Burns was a columnist for The Dallas Morning News and his studie...

Re: Texas "10 acre" rule for discharging a firearm outside of city limits?

Concerning relocating raccoons: Basically I think they can be killed OR relocated onto the owner's property. You can't just move them 'someplace else' and make them someone else's problem. Here's some info from Texas Parks & Wildlife — The emphasis is mine. https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor...

Taxes on Firearms

It seems some communities/politicians are promoting taxing firearms and ammunition to (what seems to me to be) exorbitantly prohibitive levels. In some instances the promoters of these ideas say it's to provide funds for public safety or victims' rights, in other cases it's clearly to make it more d...

Re: thoughts on the future of political parties

I doubt that we'll have more than two STRONG political parties. In a parliamentary system it can work, where parties can group together to form a coalition government. In our system however, such a split would only make two weak parties which would be unable to overcome whichever party did not split...
