Re: Best compact 1911? Or favorite DA/SA carry

Did a fair amount of research a few years ago and decided I wanted a SIG P229. I went to the LGS but decided to check out the used offerings before I pluncked down my money for a new one. Walked away with a SIG PRO SP2022 for about 1/3 the cost of a new P229 and have never regretted that purchase. I...

Re: Suppressor build success

Yeah, I have an original Photon IR scope on another rifle. It's very useful out to about 80-100 yards, more if there's moonlight and the target isn't in shadow. In the early pre-dawn time (about an hour before actual sunup) I can see hogs a half mile distant if they're in the open even though I can'...

What optic are you using?
It's an IR Hunter MK3 60mm thermal weapon sight.
I think Trijicon bought IR Hunter a year or two ago, so it may be marketed under that brand now.

Normally the video is MUCH better. I'm going to see if I can repair my old cable.

Re: Suppressor build success

I've been continuing to play/work with this suppressor over the past year or so, and I believe I'm getting everything sorted out. The POI still changes sometimes after bouncing the rifle around for a while, but things have settled in to a satisfactory degree. I'm using it regularly on hogs these day...

Not a meme per se, but interesting.

This is a billboard on I-35N just north of New Braunfels.

Re: Social Security pending Insolvency

Q: What are the 'odds' that Congress will completely fail to do anything about this? They'll do something , but they'll wait until the very last minute. Any solution will anger some constituents, so the politicians will continue to pass it down the line until it absolutely CANNOT be avoided.

Re: HB 49 - Kill Daylight Savings Time

I lived in Arizona for a few years, and until then I wondered why they were opposed to DST. After living there I found out. Arizona is tucked at the far west side of the Mountain Time Zone and even without DST the sun sets pretty late in the day. In the desert, the last thing those folks need is an...

Re: HB 49 - Kill Daylight Savings Time

I don't have any complaint about changing the clock twice a year, it's not that onerous. What I would NOT like to see is Texas doing something unique that sets it apart in a weird way from its' neighbors. I remember in the 70's when DST was initially introduced. A news service interviewed several fo...

They're bound to be RFID scanners.

Metal detectors would be useless... they would go off every time a shopping cart went through the doors.
Yeah, not to mention car keys, pocket knives, metal frame eyeglasses, my artificial knee, the plate in my head, and of course my firearm.

Re: HB 1163 - Large Cities may Vote to ban Open Carry

Such a law would be a violation of the Texas Constitution. RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. Every citizen shall have the right to keep and bear arms in the lawful defense of himself or the State; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms, with a view to prevent crime...
