Re: Shoot Point Blank in NRH opening Wednesday 9/27/17

Are you willing to carry a million dollar insurance policy to cover any potential liability one of YOUR students may cause at their facility?
Yes. I had NRA Instructor insurance, and that policy can name a range to be included. Without the ability to take students to qualify at a range, only range owners (or those with large private properties) need apply and meet all the requirements to be CHL/LTC instructors.

Also, they can believe what they want, but I believe the "business decision" restricting the range use to their own instructors is because they want the students to come to them for training. What they don't recognize is that having outside instructors bringing students into their facility brings in customers who will come back to that facility for future shooting and shopping.

Business decision - after all - we are offering LTC classes to that would undermine our classes, as well as the added liability.

It is what it is, and in line with other indoor ranges in the area.

James

And so my BLEH stands. :grumble
And an additional "BLEH" to the other "ranges in the area".

Re: Shoot Point Blank in NRH opening Wednesday 9/27/17

No clue, I don't work there. Why not call them and ask? I could be totally wrong but since they are a large company with lots of ranges (read that as deep pockets) I read the rule to mean they don't just let "anyone" teach there without first being checked out. My last post come off pretty jerky- apologies for that, wasn't exactly how I meant it. :tiphat:
No apologies needed. My one-word comment might seem a bit snarky, too. But I won't be calling them since they're too far away for them to be any use to me anyway. I have a bit of a chip on my shoulder, since when I was actively trying to be a CHL instructor, the closest range I could find that would allow outside instructors was a 45 minute drive one-way. For some reason students seemed to balk at driving 90 minutes to take a 20 minute proficiency test. :grumble

It also depends on what they deem as "instruction". For example, I shouldn't have to provide my "teaching credentials" to take my granddaughter to the range for some basic handgun instruction/practice. Their rule probably is not targeting that kind of activity, but they could if they wanted to be sticklers about it.

Bleah...
Have you checked to see what that cert. might entail, or are you just put out that a range owner might want to verify that you have teaching credentials before allowing you to use their range as your personal office?
I read that to mean Point Blank employees. Do you/they allow independent LTC Instructors (with the State Certification) to use your facilities for Proficiency Testing? If so, I'll retract my 'Bleah'.
