Don't forget Lucio.
After it's all over, I may call Zaffrini and thank her for helping us to get a better bill through than SB 354 would have been.

She played her part well so that the Brady/Woods group will give her a sympathetic pat on the back, still vote for her, even though she helped us a lot. :rolll

Chas.
I can't wait to hear the reason once the session is over. If you're willing (or able) to explain it to us.
John Woods needed a breath mint and the House wanted to keep him over in the Senate. :lol:

Kidding, I'll never get close enough to find out though ... :roll:

Re: SB 905 passed in Senate

The six who voted against the bill were an eclectic mix: Sens. Brian BIrdwell, R-Granbury; Wendy Davis, D-Fort Worth; Rodney Ellis, D-Houston; Steve Ogden, R-Bryan; Jose Rodriuguez, D-El Paso, and Jeff Wentworth, R-San Antonio.

Wentworth, by the way, is the author of the campus-carry bill.

“I guess we were the only ones paying attention,” Ellis said.
Well, maybe Zaffrini wants to carry her pink gun so she can feel safer... so she didn't vote against it :lol:

Re: SB 905 passed in Senate

I'd like to offer an amendment on the third reading to change "Legislators" to "licensees"
and add "Campuses" to "bars"

Charles L. Cotton wrote:Hang on folks. SB905 doesn't authorize campus-carry; it applies only to:
  • Bars (51% locations) TPC §46.035(b)(1);
    Sporting events (high school, college, interscholastic, or professional) TPC §46.035(b)(2);
    Hospitals and nursing homes TPC §46.035(b)(4);
    Amusement parks TPC §46.035(b)(5);
    Churches TPC §46.035(b)(6);
    Meeting of governmental entities TPC §46.035(c).
This bill might be useful before the session is over. (Then again it may not, but we never squander an opportunity. :thumbs2: )

Chas.
:oops: OOPS That's what I get for speedreading speed-listening ... I was griping about them discussing altering fish size limits in tournaments and Patrick mentioned "on campuses" with 905; perhaps he said "This bill does not authorize us to carry on campuses"

Thanks for the clarification.

AMENDMENT:
Now students IN BARS will worry that a legislator might visit a BAR on campus and go berserk
They won't be able to concentrate
Insurance policies will need to be re-written for legislators visiting BARS on campus
Police will need costly retraining to memorize all legislators faces so they can tell the good guys from the bad ... wait ... Republicans from Democrats?
Persons involved in Collegiate Sports won't be able to concentrate ...

Time would be better spent today and tomorrow calling/faxing the House calendar committee about HB 750 and HB 2178
Let them know SB 905 guns on campus for Legislators passed the Senate ... how about us?
Please get HB 750 and HB 2178 on the calendar
