What a schlemiel.

I am fascinated by name origins and linguistics in general. The polite way to ask is something like, "I haven't heard your name before. Where does it come from?"

I lot of Americans have anglicized names that had totally different origins. For example, Polish people named Sniegowski (which has something to do with snow) got renamed to Snow or White.

Welcome to the forum.

The definition of expatriate is someone who is living outside the country that he is a citizen of. It's normally applied to people working abroad, like diplomats or contractors.

Re: What's the Origin of Your User Name?

I don't want to steal business from Texas City, but you might want to consider the Galveston Rifle and Pistol Club. It's about 20 minutes closer to the ferry landing than Texas City, costs $60 a year, and you can shoot during daylight hours every day. The facilities are pretty bare-bones.

I guess I should add that I am a director of the club.

Seamus is the Irish Gaelic version of James, which is my given name. My father used to call me Seamus. I just added the TX to make it unique (it's actually a very common name).

For anyone who doesn't know, it's pronounced SHAY muss.
