Re: How "Prepped" Are you?

I belonged to a group of people who were interested in prepping for a number of years. As part of that, I did a methodical look, from my perspective, at potential emergency situations. For example, what would happen if a toxic tank car(s) on the railroad in Ft. Worth caused a massive evacuation? I t...

Re: Man attacks teens in San antonio over MAGA hat

My greatest concern of out this incident is not the dolt to created it but the "wanna-bees" who might copy it. The harder that society comes down on the originator, the less attractive that the repeats might seem. I do understand that some are drawn to the limelight, regardless of the consequences b...

Most Patriotic State?

According to this article's criteria, it is Virginia http://wjla.com/news/local/virginia-most-patriotic-state It looks like Texas dropped because of voting numbers in the 2016 election. Maybe that was a good thing. If the "blue" cities in Texas had turned out in record numbers, the results might hav...

Re: Are our glory days behind us? Yes, I think they are.

I realize that every generation gets old and says we're going to heck in a handbasket, but I truly think it's different this time. The ground has shifted. I think you are correct. Trump getting elected is just a bump in the road and slows down the direction we are headed in if Hilary would have bee...

Re: SCOTUS to Address Civil Forfeiture Laws

It’s always telling when the task force cars are looking southbound and not so much north bound. I've lived near Interstate 10 for most of the past 17 years. Law enforcement won't overlook a shipment of drugs they find coming in, if they do catch it. But they're much more driven to find the cash go...

Re: Cell Phone Location Data - Supreme Court

..and not to send the thread off in the wrong direction immediately but the majority opinion that despite the huge change in technology with the cell phone, the Forth Amendment still applies pretty much undercuts the "musket" problem with the Second Amendment. Or perhaps that is just my wishful thin...

Cell Phone Location Data - Supreme Court

Please feel free to move this if I picked the wrong place. Today, the Supreme Court ruled that the government has to have a warrant to track your cell phone data. Or at least that is what the news story says. I think that I like the ruling. But here is what scares me. It was 5-4 with Kennedy, Alito,...

Re: HAM study material

The West books are geared to pass the test. The ARRl material takes a different and deeper path to learning which might help you. Like Acoustics, electronics can have a complexity to it too. I can't say that I know of any specific course material that directly ties it all together. Only missing a c...

Re: IN: Woman kills officer's attacker, now getting sued

well i purchased it a few weeks ago just to be safe. the way i figure it, if i ever do have to use my gun for self defense, I'm going to court regardless and legal fees would cost more than i care to afford. im not exactly well off... so for me its a good investment If you do have to use your gun a...

Re: New School Safety Coordinator - Boerne ISD

I hope this works better for Boerne than it did for our local district. Ours hired a new coordinator a few years ago, while Argyle was implementing their armed teacher policy. Almost nothing has changed in the schools in our district since. All the elementary schools are as vulnerable today as they ...

Re: HAM study material

Thank you for providing the reference information. I have a slightly different problem and solicit your help with it. I took my Technician test in 2011 and passed it. I took the General test on the same evening and came within a couple of questions of passing it, too. I bought the Gordon West book "...

Re: Are our glory days behind us? Yes, I think they are.

I'm 20 years older than you and have a different perspective. We are allowing ourselves to be the victims of the media and have abandoned our own history. We have problems. I have been concerned about the takeover of the world by the Elites and the Globalists. The divide between the rich and the poo...

Re: "Answer, but don’t open your door" - Hsoi

Here is my take, based on a totally different real life event. I walk my dog in the evenings. I started walking her in a local park, right about dusk because that is when it is the most comfortable. I have my usual belt and pockets full of things - pistol, spare mag, pepper spray, knife and small fl...

Re: Mere possession of firearm not probable cause for arrest--even in Illinois

But will the roadmap matter? I ask in the context of many Texas governmental entities pushing the boundaries of not being able to post 30.06 signs. Those who are opposed to guns don't seem to be governed by the laws like the rest of us. Illinois itself defied the Federal government several times in ...

Re: What Would You Do To Help

This is another case were a location has been usurped by those with no good reason to be there. The video says that the entrance is left open for movie theater access but I'd be willing to be that, on any given night, there are many there with no intention of going to see a movie. So it is an accide...
