And the hits just keep on coming. I wonder if anyone believes that a door-to-door suppressor search would end well?

Re: Keep an eye on Virginia
I have a local Texas friend who has gone to Richmond to join the rally tomorrow. He said that information is circulating that 7 bus loads of anti-fa will arrive tomorrow wearing MAGA hats and NRA gear. Northam warned that he wasn't going to let this rally turn into another Charlottesville but this scenario, minus the Pro gun clothing is exactly what happened there.
I guess we'll see tomorrow if that information is accurate or just another circulating conspiracy theory. I'm hoping my buddy will share live videos of the event. If he does and I can share them, I will. I trust his version of what is happening more than the media.

I'll take that bet.
I'm with you until "Dems would lose the next election." We'll see in November.

Re: Keep an eye on Virginia
This is an article from 2015 about the wrangling over the Virginia Supreme Court. It appears that the Democrats succeeded in tilting the court in their direction. I could not find more current information about additional appointments or replacements.
My own comment is that it appears that the Republicans shot themselves in the foot with a defection, at least according to the story.

Re: Keep an eye on Virginia
We have seen some similar legislation in CT. That State is still in a stand-off if you believe the stories that there are hundreds of thousands of "banned" weapons that were not registered and there has not been any move on the part of the politicians to direct law enforcement to kick in doors where the suspected banned firearms might be. There was initially some high profile "come and take it" banter from some of the citizens and some equally forceful statements from State police saying that they relished the opportunity to bring the malcontents to justice. It has been quiet there ever since.
I don't believe that the tipping point is going to be the passage of the laws. It will be when someone decides that it is time to make examples of some of the scofflaws. Much of rural Virginia as well as parts of neighboring MD have about the same mindset regarding the Liberal politicians. I don't think that a forceful roundup is going to go well for anyone.
