Re: In a nation where the population is disarmed

Chinese troop movement into Hong Kong prompts unease

The 2nd amendment backs up the 1st as well:
As concerns about a possible crackdown intensify in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Internet Service Providers Association said on Wednesday it was troubled by reports that the local government might issue an executive order to block selective websites or applications.

It said such an order would be the “end of the open Internet of Hong Kong” and “permanently deter international businesses from positing their businesses and investments in Hong Kong”.

The group also said it would be an ineffective move as it “would not deter nor stop determined users from accessing their desired services” through a virtual private network (VPN).

Re: In a nation where the population is disarmed

Former Hong Kong [chief executive] Tung Chee-hwa has accused the United States and Taiwan of orchestrating the “well-organised” recent protests against the Hong Kong government.
He added that there was nothing to protect people’s rights if the “one country, two systems” principle were destroyed.
So the former Chief executive of Hong Kong admits peoples rights in Hong Kong are dependent on nothing but a "principle" that Communist China can discard on a whim.

That is a far cry from how American's won their rights:
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Re: In a nation where the population is disarmed

Chinese forces gathering at Hong Kong border, White House officials monitoring escalation

In 1989 the Communists needed a lot of troops for a lot fewer protesters.
In the climate of terror which followed the massacre, the relatives of those killed were not only unable to seek justice for their loss; they were even unable to mourn openly the dead, who were officially described as ‘rioters’.

Tiananmen remains a banned subject in China
Tiananmen and the 1989 crackdown remains an official taboo topic in China. There is no official death toll. Attempts to discuss, commemorate and demand justice for what happened have been forcefully curbed, with no public discussion allowed. Since 1989 many people have been imprisoned for commemorating events or questioning the official line.

Only recently a court in Changshu in eastern China found Gu Yimin guilty of inciting state subversion after he tried to post images of the post-Tiananmen crackdown online and applied to stage a protest on the 24th anniversary.

Re: In a nation where the population is disarmed

Communist Party mouthpiece People’s Daily has called on the Hong Kong police to take immediate and forceful action to end the unrest and restore law and order in the city, in a strongly worded commentary published on Monday.

“At a time like this, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government and the police should not hesitate or have any unnecessary ‘psychological worries’ about taking all necessary steps [to restore order],” the commentary said.

“The SAR government and police should not forget that their strongest backing comes from the sacred missions bestowed on them by the Basic Law and the law of Hong Kong, and hence the SAR government and the police must act now in accordance with the laws, and punish all those perpetrators of violence as prescribed by the law.

“We cannot condone the lawbreakers just because they are holding up high the banner of ‘freedom and democracy’ or wearing the hat of ‘civil disobedience’.”
Chinese state media calls for ‘forceful’ police action to end Hong Kong unrest

Funny how authoritarian governments can ignore the law in Hong Kong, where there should have been democratic elections 12 years ago and bookdealers should not have been kidnapped by Beijing... but when people protest authoritarian lawlessness, the authoritarians want to use force. Only to restore "law and order" of course... :banghead:

Re: In a nation where the population is disarmed

Beijing strikes ominous tone, saying military could intervene in Hong Kong

The protesters are asking for very basic freedom that they were promised in writing by the PRC 22 years ago: Hong Kong protest demands: drop extradition, free arrested

The Communist Chinese have already been kidnapping Hong Kong booksellers critical of Beijing. One bookseller was kidnapped right out of the city of Hong Kong.

The Communists naturally drag America into this China Urges U.S. to Remove ‘Black Hand’ From Hong Kong Protests. The PRC can't take responsibility for their own actions, so they blame us.

Now, gun grabber extraordinaire, Michael Bloomberg's website Bloomberg.com claims that Hong Kong Protests Become a Global Problem. I guess Bloomberg would prefer 2 million people protesting for fundamental liberty would just shut up and go back to the "mines". That's 2 million out of a city of 7.5 million. More than 6 times the size of the protests at Tiananmen. The cry for freedom might interfere with the elite's profits. Can't have that :banghead:

Re: In a nation where the population is disarmed

The Chinese military has said that it can be deployed to Hong Kong to maintain social order at the request of the city’s government.

Wu Qian, a spokesman for China’s defence ministry, also said Sunday’s siege of the mainland government’s liaison office in Hong Kong was intolerable.

At a July 24, 2019, press conference, Wu echoed state media reports published the previous day denouncing vandalism of the central government liaison office in Hong Kong.

Wu said the July 21 siege, which followed weeks of mass protests against the city’s extradition bill, was a challenge to the bottom line of the principle of “one country, two systems”

I disagree.
The “Cat in a Hat” dude in the first video skips frame (loops) about every 30 seconds.
The girl in the middle video starts recording (loops) about every 14 seconds.
The yellow shirt dude in the third video reappears (loops) about every 9 seconds.

But yeah, other than that, there are no loops.
Yes the videos are short (30/15/9 sec each) and automatically replay. They do not loop over several times. They replay at end. The time stamps look consistent.
