As concerns about a possible crackdown intensify in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Internet Service Providers Association said on Wednesday it was troubled by reports that the local government might issue an executive order to block selective websites or applications.

It said such an order would be the “end of the open Internet of Hong Kong” and “permanently deter international businesses from positing their businesses and investments in Hong Kong”.

The group also said it would be an ineffective move as it “would not deter nor stop determined users from accessing their desired services” through a virtual private network (VPN).

He added that there was nothing to protect people’s rights if the “one country, two systems” principle were destroyed.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

In the climate of terror which followed the massacre, the relatives of those killed were not only unable to seek justice for their loss; they were even unable to mourn openly the dead, who were officially described as ‘rioters’.

Tiananmen remains a banned subject in China
Tiananmen and the 1989 crackdown remains an official taboo topic in China. There is no official death toll. Attempts to discuss, commemorate and demand justice for what happened have been forcefully curbed, with no public discussion allowed. Since 1989 many people have been imprisoned for commemorating events or questioning the official line.

Only recently a court in Changshu in eastern China found Gu Yimin guilty of inciting state subversion after he tried to post images of the post-Tiananmen crackdown online and applied to stage a protest on the 24th anniversary.

Communist Party mouthpiece People’s Daily has called on the Hong Kong police to take immediate and forceful action to end the unrest and restore law and order in the city, in a strongly worded commentary published on Monday.

“At a time like this, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government and the police should not hesitate or have any unnecessary ‘psychological worries’ about taking all necessary steps [to restore order],” the commentary said.

“The SAR government and police should not forget that their strongest backing comes from the sacred missions bestowed on them by the Basic Law and the law of Hong Kong, and hence the SAR government and the police must act now in accordance with the laws, and punish all those perpetrators of violence as prescribed by the law.

“We cannot condone the lawbreakers just because they are holding up high the banner of ‘freedom and democracy’ or wearing the hat of ‘civil disobedience’.”

The Chinese military has said that it can be deployed to Hong Kong to maintain social order at the request of the city’s government.

Wu Qian, a spokesman for China’s defence ministry, also said Sunday’s siege of the mainland government’s liaison office in Hong Kong was intolerable.

At a July 24, 2019, press conference, Wu echoed state media reports published the previous day denouncing vandalism of the central government liaison office in Hong Kong.

Wu said the July 21 siege, which followed weeks of mass protests against the city’s extradition bill, was a challenge to the bottom line of the principle of “one country, two systems”

I disagree.

The “Cat in a Hat” dude in the first video skips frame (loops) about every 30 seconds.
The girl in the middle video starts recording (loops) about every 14 seconds.
The yellow shirt dude in the third video reappears (loops) about every 9 seconds.

But yeah, other than that, there are no loops.
