Godfather Of Color Revolutions: George Soros
Ever wonder why urban terrorists can burn down cities with no consequences but the McClaskys are prosecuted for defending their home against the same? The answer is George Soros, his money, and his influence.
Want your country back? The way to defund George Soro's minions is to defund George Soros. That would involve making him pay more than zero dollars in tax every year.

No, it's not. They took the easy way out with a plea bargain, surrendered their firearms, and let the other side take a win.

Most definitely not a win.
Agreed. Very disappointing.
Yes and no. No it isn't full vindication. However, several more years of litigation and many thousands more $ later to achieve exoneration (or a pardon) would make for a pyrrhic victory.

Judging by the description of the offense they pled to, it is a low-level misdemeanor that won't really hurt (maybe like Class C in TX). It avoids a very possible felony conviction given the local jury pool and the necessity to appeal before finally being vindicated. In the interim, would they lose their civil rights? Their law licenses?

Additionally, the governor said in the past that he would pardon them. I wish we would have long ago but perhaps MO law requires a conviction/guilty plea before he can? If he keeps his word, they won't have any legal consequences.

In short, while I'd love to see them beat this bum rap, this allows them to get on with their life much sooner with virtually no negative consequences and that seems like a very reasonable proposition to me.

This sounds pretty serious. Not against our St. Louis couple, due to prosecution of former Governor. Lying to judges, stuff like that.

Awe.
St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner, one of the early local prosecutors bankrolled by liberal megadonor George Soros since 2016, engaged in 62 acts of misconduct that resulted in 79 false representations during Greitens' now-dismissed criminal prosecution
Kim and George are busy people! Sounds like Kim could go to jail for this one:
Gardner also remains under criminal investigation by a special prosecutor...

More from a local news source. Thanks for your post. I cannot believe this is happening in America. It is one more nail in Biden's defeat in November.
City attorneys for St. Louis refused to charge nine protesters who were ticketed for trespassing after members of the Portland Place trustees said they did not want to press charges against them.

Ruark wrote: Thu Jul 30, 2020 9:51 am Yeah, Gardner is a well known liberal leftist. She prosecutes less than 25% of the cases brought to her by the police, and she released the looters and burners that were initially arrested back when the riots started. She described the McCloskey's actions as "a violent assault."

The St. Louis Police Officers Association, the union that represents the St. Louis city police, has labeled her policies a “criminal empowerment agenda.” Cripes, how does someone like that become a Circuit Attorney???
The most obvious answer to how she became a circuit attorney is organized crime. Organized crime gets one of their own in a key office, to cut their people loose after the police arrest them and lock up their adversaries. Organized crime's adversaries include both rival criminals and law abiding citizens protecting their property.

thatguyoverthere wrote: Sun Jul 19, 2020 4:26 pm I haven't read this entire thread, so pardon me if something like this has already been asked. But I've been thinking about a hypothetical situation. Serious question; I'd like to know your thoughts.

Consider if you were in a similar situation as these homeowners; that is, with you standing at the front of your house with firearm in hand, with a crowd of people on the sidewalk in front of your house, some of them yelling out threats to you.

Now, one or two people from the crowd casually begin walking up your sidewalk toward you. They're walking, not running, toward you. They're not yelling, they're not speaking, they're not making threatening gestures, but they are definitely from the mob, and they are coming directly toward you, at a casual walking pace, on your property.

You tell them to stop. You tell them they're on private property. You tell them they are trespassing. You tell them to leave immediately. But they keep coming toward you, again at a casual walking pace.

Then what?
Probably best to lock yourself in your home, and continue to announce to the crowd that they are on private property and are trespassing from a more secure location than to stay on the street.

Some relevant legal discussion here

If the mob escalates to burglary or arson you know what to do.

Edited to add, you can see that professional security used the tactic of being at an elevated position on the balcony of the home, as being at street level with a mob is a more risky proposition:

Kimberly Gardner should be in jail. Honestly she sounds to me like she's part of The Outfit... her pattern of cutting loose criminals and going after people who defend themselves and their property sound like organized crime all the way.
