Last summer I had an occasion to fly into New York. Of course I did not take my hand gun because, well it's New York. I did have my pocket knife inside my checked baggage when I left DFW. But when I got to my hotel and unpacked the knife was not in my bag??? Must have slipped out during the flight. If you can loss a pocket knife going thru TSA what makes me think my handgun, in its locked case, that has been "declared" and the bag marked will be there when I collect my bags?

Yeah what I read on AA site says ammo must be in original manufacture's box. I figure that to mean no loaded mags, no common ammo boxes. But I did not find if you just put ammo in your checked baggage or with your handguns locked case?

Thank you for your information. Going to Grand Rapids. There is a quilt show going on and my gal is big into that. Me not so much but going to support. If there was a range close by maybe I could get some time with EDC.

I have a trip scheduled to Michigan next month. Quick search did not turn up info I need. Now my Texas LTC is recognized in this state but not sure how I can legally carry in car. All I find is that gun must be unloaded and in locked container in trunk. Is this even if you have a valid license from a state that is recognized? And if so what are you suppose to do, disarm, lock gun up in trunk every time you get in car. Then when stopped retrieve your gun from the trunk?
Any help would be apricated.
