I like your answer, sir. This has pretty much been my method before I got my CHL. Apparently, my CHL instructor had his own somewhat different thoughts. I do appreciate your thoughts on this.

Re: CHL, Vehicle and Adult Beverage Question

Can you point out where, in the penal code, that is spelled out? I don't know that it is spelled out in the penal code. I'm just relating the statement by my CHL instructor. Maybe he was opposed to alcohol himself? I've had my CHL only about a year, and a lot of the requirement/restrictions I'm not...

Re: CHL, Vehicle and Adult Beverage Question

In my CHL class, our instructor stated that while the Texas DWI level is 0.08% blood alcohol content, the allowable allowable BAC while carrying is 0.00% - in other words, zero tolerance. And I didn't mean carrying while intoxicated, I meant any detectable amount - either by breathalzyer or by the L...

CHL, Vehicle and Adult Beverage Question

I carry concealed (CHL) every day. Sometimes on weekends, when I'm over at some friend's place, I'll be offered a beer or other beverage. I understand the zero alcohol tolerance while carrying, and my choices are to either disarm myself or refuse the beverage. While I never consume enough beer to be...

Re: Conceal Carry when going to the Range?

I shoot at Bullet Trap and Garland Public, am a member of both. I CC to both. I have asked the range officers if it's OK to fire my CCW - no problem as long as its at the bench and not drawing to fire from the holster. I reholster before leaving the line.

Re: CHL Holders: What do you carry? How do you conceal?

Most often I carry a Keltec PF-9, either IWB with a Galco USA-2, or in my right front pocket using an Uncle Mike's. I also have a Galco shoulder rig for my S&W M&P 9, but carry that less often. I also have a fairly "prosperous" body shape, and the PF-9 conceals a lot easier.

Re: DART trains and workplace

This came to mind after reading this article: http://www.wfaa.com/news/crime/Some-Still-Concerned-About-Dart-Security-139755423.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I work for the parent company of WFAA, and saw they interviewed one of their own employees. Both companies sta...

DART trains and workplace

So a person rides the DART rail from Plano to downtown Dallas for work every day. He just got his CHL last month, and wants to carry while on the DART. (I don't blame him - DART trains and bus stops can be scary.) No problem there, he's allowed to legally carry on DART. The issue is when he gets to ...

Re: 51 percent - improperly posted?

So, the thing to do now is call the TABC district office and advise them the sign is not in a conspicuous location as required by code and see if they can get the owner to place it in a more visible spot. I made that call today, and the very nice TABC lady I spoke with said she's very familiar with...

Re: 51 percent - improperly posted?

I keep a shortcut to this link on the home screen of my iPhone. You can do that with any smart phone. I routinely check almost everywhere I go that even 'flirts' with the possibility of being 51%. I've found multiple locations who have incorrectly posted 51% or failed to post 51%. TABC has also bee...

Re: 51 percent - improperly posted?

First off, welcome to the forum. :tiphat: If you will tell us the business then we can look it up in the TABC database and see if it really is a 51% location or not. Thanks for the welcome. Been a member for a while, but this is the first time to post. The business is Big Slick's Bar & Grille 1...

51 percent - improperly posted?

So this past weekend, a group of friends and I went for a drive to this little hole in the wall place in North Texas, in a tiny little community - maybe 200 population. The hole in the wall place is popular on the weekends. They serve alcohol, and burgers, etc. I was carrying concealed, and looked f...
