Re: FL Mental Health Bill

This mental health bill, or whatever you call it, is a travesty, totally unnecessary, totally useless, and unConstitutional. This thing twists the very concept of "rule of law" into something evil and unrecognizable, and denies the existence of rights, replacing them with privileges from The State. ...

Re: Texas LEO shoots family dog at wrong address

Um... wow, this thread exploded. I'm just going to respond to VM177's response to me, and then I'm gonna finish the rest of the thread. It doesn't change the fact that his unreasonable fear or incompetence resulted in a dog being killed. Unreasonable fear or incompetence? I'm not so sure it was unre...

Re: Texas LEO shoots family dog at wrong address

With respect. I think the problem is that + he shot the dog. Poor doggie. :cryin I get ya, and I do feel bad for dog and owner, but my point was that, had he been at the right address, there wouldn't be any question. Justifying use of force on an animal is a bit simpler than on a person, especially...

Re: 10mm Magnum

Let Midway know of the error. They're usually pretty good about fixing mistakes. Out of curiosity, how does this 10mm Magnum differ from 10mm Auto? ::Edited to add:: I just looked up the 10mm Magnum. Looks like it's the 10mm Auto, but lengthened, I guess for use in bored-out S&W 610 revolvers. I rea...

Re: Texas LEO shoots family dog at wrong address

I find myself figuring the error here happened in one of two places. 1) When the warrant was being sworn/printed, the address was entered wrong, OR 2) The officer serving the warrant used a GPS to find the address, and failed to notice the city was wrong. Either way, it's a departmental/court error,...

Or you can switch to a Browning Hi Power, where you can take the sights completely off and still rack the gun one-handed! :biggrinjester:

Re: How well would a firearm like the M4 perform in outer sp

Believe it or not, in my own true Sheldon Cooper style, I was ruminating on this issue while undergoing acupuncture treatment this afternoon, and realized that using a full auto M4, with adequate heat dispersal, might serve well as a propulsion system, ala "nuclear pulse propulsion." Now I'm rememb...

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks this is what they want. The skeptic in me thinks they're just simply this stupid.

I'm not sure which to believe.

Regardless, thats not going to happen here, so we're back to searches. And right back to violations of the Fourth Amendment, with reference to "unreasonable searches and seizures." I would say that intrusive searches not based upon Probable Cause, with an efficacy rate of 0% at preventing/apprehend...

Re: Letter Carrier won't pick up a Letter???

Ugh. Mail carriers. Over the last two years, my wife and I have had mis-delivered mail, "lost" mail, stolen mail (but delivered, empty envelopes), opened mail, late mail, "insufficient postage" (when an identical letter was taken, same day, same carrier), repeated "insufficient postage" despite an e...

Re: What causes a double feed?

Are you -sure- the extractor isn't damaged, or has dirt under it? If it doesn't, I'd look long and hard at the profile of the case rims. See if there's a difference in the shape of the extraction groove on the rounds that failed to eject. From what you describe, the extractor is "jumping" back off t...

Re: can you carry a NFA firearm with a CHL in TX?

My understanding is, if it requires NFA paperwork, Texas law does not touch it at all, except to say, "If it follows federal regulations, it's legal here." As I do not know of any federal law restricting the carriage of NFA weaponry, only ownership, I would have to conclude that if you legally own a...

Re: uh, the kid opened his car door!!!

I would say, "to draw or not to draw," would depend largely upon the body language of the person getting out of their car. Watch their body language. Watch their expression. Watch their hands. Listen to their tone of voice. Tomorrow, I may get cut-off while in uniform and a marked vehicle, by some p...
