Re: 10mm or 45acp??

I used to own a Glock in 10mm, and while it wasn't the most unpleasant gun to shoot, it also wasn't that far away (beaten only by a Taurus Tracker .44 and a Kahr PM40). Go with .45. The difference in effective, delivered power on the target is negligible (they're both pistol rounds, and all pistol r...

Okay, I totally missed that part. I claim decaffeination as a defense; slept in, and just now finished my first cup. :yawn

Re: Finding teachers CHL's

Fingerprints DO change, usually as a result of wear and tear. As far as I know, the patterns you are born with will not change on their own, but injury and damage can and do alter them, sometimes considerably. Nicks and cuts that heal unevenly will alter the fingerprint, sometimes dramatically. And ...

Re: "Is that an ASSAULT rifle...?"

I would have answered yes just to see her reaction. that's probably what I would have done...I'm awful like that. same here...probably would have been a wise-aleck and said it was a "street sweeping uzi mac-10 assault rifle shotgun with a 300 round clip" No, it's a ""street sweeping uzi mac-1...

I believe he is referring to an importation ban. I don't think it applied to SKS rifles, though, or at least not all of them.

Re: Trying to identify this pistol. Please help!

Awesome guys! Thanks! It says the gun was never sold commercially. Interesting. Any ideas what it might be worth. It is in reasonable shape for its age! ;) You might try jumping over to the View From the Porch ( booksbikesboomsticks.blogspot.com ), and shooting an email with pictures over to the si...

Re: Just picked this up in a trade. What do yall think?

Para did a number of special runs for various services and law enforcement agencies. I'm not sure how much they charged for the example in this thread, but if it was anything like the Border Patrol guns, it was around 700-750 per gun. I managed to acquire an example of said Border Patrol Paras - in ...

Re: Make Our Job Easier Infringing on Your Rights

And once again, someone pulls out the Nazi reference. Look, folks, it's really quite simple. Don't like the checkpoints? Pressure your congress-critters to take action such that they're no longer necessary, and in fact do become pointless to the point of intolerance. I'm in favor of providing the eq...

Re: Make Our Job Easier Infringing on Your Rights

I may annoy or anger people by saying this, but I had to say it. I started watching that video... the truck driver is an idiot. The BP checkpoints are there for one reason, and one reason only - to catch illegal aliens. Yes, you see the dogs there, but court precedent holds that it is an -immigratio...

Re: School Zones & Cell Phones

What it comes down to is, the law shouldn't punish people for actions that don't harm/hurt/infringe other people and/or other people's rights, but should punish such harms, hurts, and infringements in proportion to the injury inflicted upon such. I wonder how the "no cell phones, period" thing would...

Re: Ruger or S&W .44magnum revolvers

My preference is for the Ruger wheelguns for anything starting with .4x. The main reason for this is that the Ruger revolvers do not beat my hand into hamburger with full-power loads, whereas the S&W grip shape is just "wrong" for my hand, and full-power loads will feel like they're trying to tear m...

Re: Remington 700 safety problems: CNBC, 10/20/10, 8PM Centr

Seeing as this thread has been Zombie-Fied (and that I hadn't heard of this issue, nor seen the thread, before this), I went ahead and checked my own 700, a .30-06 in the left-hand configuration. I've not touched the trigger in the slightest; however, it was used when I got it, so may have been "adj...

Re: Glock in dishwasher?

I would worry more about rusting the small parts: springs, roll pins, etc. So long as the finish on the slide/barrel is reasonably intact, I don't imagine a trip through the Maytag would incur any damage there. As for the grip... well, it really IS tupperware, isn't it? :biggrinjester:

Re: Left eye dominant and right handed son

Although I will say that I feel an AK is more user friendly for a southpaw then an AR. (But either one is entirely usable) I actually find the AR to be quite southpaw-friendly, with the safety being the sole exception. If I place my right, supporting hand around the front of the magwell, it puts my...
