Re: Whoo Hoo! Custom ordered Ed Brown Special Forces-Picture

I'm curious how well that "dimpled" grip works with a sweaty hand, compared to the usual fine checkering.

Notarized? Huh?

What's this about some of the documentation being notarized? I didn't see any such thing. The DPS says the following documentation is required, in addition to the online application. I sent in all of it with no problems, but didn't see anything about any notarization... Checklist (or your confirmati...

Yes, it's fine, your choice. I'm a one-hander, too.

Re: Signs for the CHLer

I'm wondering just how far they would go in enforcing that last sign. It's not valid, but it says "violators will be arrested and prosecuted." Has anybody run into attempted enforcement of one of these "invalid" signs? Could things be straightened out on the spot with the arresting officer? Even if ...

Re: OC at home with visitors?

Oh, for heaven's sakes, if you're having guests and they're going to be uncomfortable with it, just put the gun away (e.g. in a nearby drawer) for the evening. Stop making such a big deal about it.

Re: CHL's and felony charges?

State law mandates that a person with a felony conviction can not have a CHL. In fact, they're not allowed to buy or even possess a handgun, by federal law. The only way to get around it is to have the convictions expunged. He may be eligible for expungement, depending on some things about his convi...

Deadly force and unarmed attackers

I brought up a question during the CHL class and the instructor never really answered it. In Texas, can you use your concealed weapon, or threaten to use your concealed weapon, against an unarmed assailant? The instructor got off onto a tangent talking about using pepper spray, putting something bet...

Re: If you are pulled over should you inform...

If a LEO asks for your ID for any reason, you MUST show your CHL along with it, whether he asks for it or not. When he goes back to his car and runs your ID through his computer, it will come up that you're a CHL holder. Then you could be in trouble for not providing your CHL.

Re: Peeping Tom Last Night/Reccomendations needed.

An attorney could have a field day if there's no documentation. The first question would be if you notified the police. If you didn't, it would be a simple matter to make you look like a gunslinging vigilante.

Re: Peeping Tom Last Night/Reccomendations needed.

Immediately, more than anything else, report it to the police so it will be in the system. NOW. If you don't, and later you're subject to legal action as a result of shooting him, it could really screw things up for your defense. I can't emphasize this strongly enough.

Civil immunity question

At the CHL class Saturday, our instructor told us that in Texas, you are NOT protected against civil action if you shoot somebody in self defense. However, later I was Googling around and found this in the Texas Penal Code: ---------------------------- SECTION 4. Section 83.001, Civil Practice and R...

Reviews

I'm wondering, if it hasn't been brought up in the past, if this site could have a couple of sections for reviews. We could have one for all the sporting goods store and gun shops scattered all over Texas. Seems like every small town has at least one. Then have another one for CHL instruction. Some ...

Re: CHL class tomorrow

Good luck I need to go to Lampasas one of these days to the Nocked and Loaded gun store there and just see what they have, I didn't know it was there until I saw a commercial ... I kept driving all the way to Killeen or Cedar Park every year or so, and they are actually closer. Website says "gunsmi...
