Re: M&P 15 Sport II - what type of stock?

I think I've determined that the original stock on my M&P 15 is an AR-Stoner M4 stock (specifically an AR-Stoner M4 6-Position Mil-Spec Diameter Collapsible AR-15 Carbine Synthetic Black). At least that's the only one I've found that matches it visually.

M&P 15 Sport II - what type of stock?

I recently purchased an M&P 15 Sport II and really like it, but want to add some additional padding to the stock. I've found several pads from Magpul, Limbsaver and others. However, they always state compatibility as "will fit CTS mil-spec" or "ACS-L", etc. I have no idea what a lot of that alphabet...

Re: Cannot Be Recovered By Any Other Means

Personally, I would definitely use deadly force, if needed, to save the life of me and my family. Probably also to protect someone else's life, depending on the situation. Protecting my stuff, maybe, but probably not in most cases. Protecting someone else's stuff, definite no. I heard someone put i...

Re: Alien Gear Shape Shift Holster System

I have thought about this, but haven't purchased one, so I'll be interested in your experience. I currently carry a Ruger SR9c in a Fobus paddle holster. While I like the flexibility of the Shape Shift, the paddle configuration appears to stick out from the body much further than the Fobus. I like t...

Re: Instructor proficiency - LTC-8?

In the instructor renewal class I attended, we were told that an LTC-8 was required. That does answer the question, what they do with it is not under my direct supervision. Someone else made the same comment - about being told this during the renewal class. However, when I called RDS, I was told it...

Plastic clips for cardboard targets

I'm looking for some plastic clips to attach a cardboard target to 1"x2" uprights. I think I saw these in use at the DPS range in Florence. Does anyone know what these are called and where I could find them? An internet search on "plastic clips for cardboard targets" didn't come up with them.

Re: Instructor proficiency - LTC-8?

Final update - we both received our renewed certificates yesterday - right at a week after we submitted the LTC-100s. Unfortunately this doesn't answer the question about whether the LTC-8 was required or not. The other guy submitted one for me; I submitted one for him as well, but I used his LTC nu...

Re: Lewisville Western Days 51% signs

I know this is now moot, but an interesting comment/question about the original Q and A: Q: What items are prohibited from being brought into the festival area ? A: No outside alcoholic beverages, bicycles, skateboards, personal transport vehicles or weapons are allowed. Pursuant to TABC regulation,...

Carry at work, but only if...

Hypothetical situation - your workplace has a "no guns" policy in their handbook, and 30.06/30.07 signs posted at each door. However, they decide to let LTC holders carry at work if they meet certain requirements. What would you be willing to accept in order to carry while at work, if you couldn't o...

Re: Instructor proficiency - LTC-8?

I'll give it a week and if my online status hasn't changed (i.e. still says waiting for proficiency), I'll call them again.

Related - I was pleasantly surprised that when I called the first time - around noon - the wait time was only four minutes.

Re: Instructor proficiency - LTC-8?

I had a mix up on the LTC-8 I submitted, so I called DPS about sending in a corrected form. They told me that in this instance - an instructor renewal proficiency - we do not have to submit the LTC-8. The instructor only has to submit the LTC-100 for themselves.

Used wrong number on LTC-8

I recently finished an instructor renewal proficiency with a friend who is also an instructor, and submitted my LTC-8 for him. After I submitted it, he let me know that he had given me the wrong number - the LTC-8 requires a DL number, but he gave me his LTC number by mistake, which I used on the LT...

Instructor proficiency - LTC-8?

Me and a friend of mine who, is also an LTC instructor, shot our renewal proficiency together yesterday and signed each other's LTC-100. Do we each have to submit an LTC-8 as well, or just send in the LTC-100?

Re: Is Dallas Trade Mart / Market Hall 30.06 Posted?

The mention of 30.06 signs at a gun show were much earlier in the thread than my recent experience - over a year ago I think. While 30.06 signs are a common sight at gun shows, I wasn't at a gun show this past weekend, and didn't see any 30.06 signs.
