Re: Is the statesman article about carry in state mental hospitals accurate?

Sec. 241.004. EXEMPTIONS. This chapter does not apply to a facility: (1) licensed under Chapter 242 or 577; (2) maintained or operated by the federal government or an agency of the federal government; or (3) maintained or operated by this state or an agency of this state . So 241 itself says 241 do...

Re: Is the statesman article about carry in state mental hospitals accurate?

well, the current state seems to be this (although I am not a lawyer, just a dude trying to parse the law, so I could be wrong, which is why I'm asking) -> 46.035 (b) (4) says that it's illegal to carry into a hospital licensed under Chapter 241, Health and Safety Code. 46.035 (i) says that 46.035 ...

Modern Language Association Protests Campus Carry in front of Texas Capitol

Apparently, the Modern Language Association of America is holding their annual conference in Austin and decided to take the opportunity to protest campus carry. https://www.facebook.com/ConcealedCampus/posts/10153808693157622 Here is an alternate link for anyone who can't see the link above: http://...

Re: SCC Calls on Texas Governor to Include Campus Carry in Any 2016 Special Session

because after two years with more than likely zero issues (as occurred in all other states with campus carry) there should be far less opponents to campus carry. So you're suggesting waiting until the 2019 regular session to address the issue? That's the only way there could be two years of campus ...

Re: SCC Calls on Texas Governor to Include Campus Carry in Any 2016 Special Session

Honestly I would rather hold the ground that we do have for 2 years and let the smoke blow over, much in the same way as open carry. I am more nervous about losing the ground we have made on campus carry at least at my school (I know it's selfish) that I think in two years when the house and senate...

When you post stuff like this, it would be handy for some of us if you actually put something in the form of a short summary and link, etc. I'm not tracking. If i'm going to google it,... what's the point. SCC is Students for Concealed Carry. http://concealedcampus.org/2016/01/scc-calls-on-...

Re: SCC Calls on Texas Governor to Include Campus Carry in Any 2016 Special Session

To answer my own question, I guess he can: From the Texas Constitution: Sec. 8. CONVENING LEGISLATURE ON EXTRAORDINARY OCCASIONS. (a) The Governor may, on extraordinary occasions, convene the Legislature at the seat of Government, or at a different place, in case that should be in possession of the...

Re: UT Campus Carry - Surprise!!

Hopefully someone will be able to change the no One in Pipe provision. There's no need to change it. They have overstepped their authority, so it is an invalid requirement. They are allowed to determine where carry is not appropriate and nothing more. This overstepping of authority is just the kind...

Re: UT Campus Carry - Surprise!!

Wondering if they received guidance from the AG about the round in the chamber issue. Also, it runs counter to their logic regarding how excessive manipulation of the firearm could cause an accidental discharge, thus they will allow cc in classrooms without asking folks to disarm and put their ha g...
