The first thing a company should tell their employees is that CITIZENS are allowed to carry their weapons at all times. Enough of this stupid nonsense.
Sorry. I couldn't resist. Badges don't grant special privileges.
In the eyes of Texas law, they do.

Re: Kay Jewelers store manager no longer employed after keeping on-duty deputy from picking up ring

Kay's and all the other places that post 30.06/7 signs and then try to prohibit peace officers from carrying will have the likelihood of an expensive education if HB 2164 is signed: https://capitol.texas.gov/BillLookup/History.aspx?LegSess=86R&Bill=HB2164 An establishment serving the public that vio...

Re: Kay Jewelers store manager no longer employed after keeping on-duty deputy from picking up ring

I don't know all the details from the article but it sounds like the manager may have been following Kay policy. It was an easy scapegoat to fire the manager after a social media notation. So Kay Jewelers has an anti-gun policy, the manager follows orders and gets fired. Kay Jewelers then looks goo...

Re: PA Supreme Court - Concealed carry is not RAS of a crime

The case is the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania vs. Michael J. Hicks, decided on 5/31/19. The opinion can be downloaded from here https://law.justia.com/cases/pennsylvania/supreme-court/2019/56-map-2017.html . I note a few things: - It follows many other jurisdictions and the SCOTUS in that it decline...

Re: 2019 Firearms Related Bills That Made it to Governor Abbott

Hmmm.... As I understand it, it doesn't matter whether there's a sign or not; if you receive verbal or written notice, you have to leave, period. Still, can an LEO walk up and ask if you're carrying a weapon, based solely on noticing a slight bulge under your shirt? Seems like that would be illegal...

Re: 2019 Firearms Related Bills That Made it to Governor Abbott

Did you catch HB 446? Apparently Gov Abbott signed it this last week, takes effect Sep 1st. It was initially reported as removing “illegal weapons” such as blackjacks, clubs, and knuckles from the list of illegal weapons, but I’m not sure what the final language ended up being. Not firearms related...

Re: 2019 Firearms Related Bills That Made it to Governor Abbot

Thanks for posting this. I'd specifically like to know more about how HB 121 works. On the surface it appears that this will effectively render 30.06 signage null and void in most realistic scenarios. I'm already exempt as a VESP, but it would be nice to have yet another defense to prosecution. The...

Re: Possible New Suppressor Bill HB 2286

Has anyone read up on HB2286? As of now it has passed in the House, and is now going through the Senate. My brother and I have different views from the text. The way I comprehend it, there will no longer be a wait time when purchasing a suppressor nor a tax stamp. The way he reads it, there will no...

Re: HB 1177, SB 506 - Unlicensed Carry During State of Disaster

Interesting article on the passage of the HB 1177 conference committee report in the Senate. https://www.statesman.com/news/20190527/gun-bill-squeaks-by-with-1-vote-margin-in-senate Looks like there are a few Republicans who are not friends of the Second Amendment. Though a supporter of the Second A...

2019 Firearms Related Bills That Made it to Governor Abbott

Below is a list of the bills that I was following over the course of the 86th Legislature related to firearms. Some of them directly impact LTCs, some of them impact things such as the school marshal program. Most of them seem to be pretty good and solid advancements for gun rights in the State of T...

See Charles' response to the committee chair appointments at the beginning of the session.

She was one of the two that he called out specifically.

I'm not seeing anything since May the 6th. Is there any hope for this one?
This died in the House Criminal Jurisprudence committee without a hearing.
