Re: Any pilots in here?

Camp/Fort Wolters in Mineral Wells was one of the Army's largest helicopter pilot training bases. For a great read about what those guys went through, I recommend "Chickenhawk".

Re: Keep an eye on Virginia

There is a TFR posted effective 0700-1900 local (Temporary Flight Restriction). I suspect it is to keep out any drones.

Re: Fort Worth's dollar store rules are Bloomberg nanny style!

"Food deserts" are a real problem. Poorer neighborhoods do not have access to HEBs, or other regular grocery stores, because they are usually miles away with no mass transit available, and many of those folks do not have their own transportation. So, they have to resort to fast food, convenience sto...

Re: OWB Retension preference

Just my way, but I agree with some sort or retention. I OC a PX4 Storm (.45) in a Berreta paddle holster. It has a retention feature that you must twist the grip clockwise (RH carry) to unlock the retention. If you were to try and grab my pistol, you would have to twist CCW and it would remain locke...

Re: Are Ham radios becoming like guns in CA?

This sounds more like a money grab than a restriction of service. A lot of repeaters are on private property anyway, so would be unaffected by this rule (most in my area are). Some brain dead politician heard that somebody was using the roof (and probably electricity) for free and saw a way to extra...

So, what bothered me is that it was obviously put in as a statement.
Of course - but seems to me it's a quick 'n' simple way to shut the SJWs up.
Abrams confirmed this in an interview.

I've been to Maryland, NJ and IL.)
You need to take IL off your list. Their CCL laws are very similar to Texas.

Re: Any pilots in here?

I am a partner in a Grumman Cheetah, and built my own EAB helicopter. It's a great job, but expensive just for fun, unless you build your own (and then still expensive :) ) Lots of good advice above, so I won't repeat. Will just emphasize, if you do take the plunge, bank the cost of the license and ...

Re: Traveling to AR, TN and KY

What I haven't found is if these states have specific signage requirements to prohibit carry, similar to the 30.06/30.07 signs that we love so much in Texas. I hve not kept up with this as much as I should (no travel plans recently or in near future) but, to the best of my knowledge, Texas is the o...
