Re: Letter to Governor Rick Perry

I don't regard campus carry as a pet issue. If one looks at consequences - the few people who might get in legal trouble for an unintentional exposure are not as important as preventing 30 young people from being killed. There was no reason for Perry not to actively (using his powers) to let the rep...

Re: Letter to Governor Rick Perry

Here's a poll on campus carry.

I agree with the sentiment that this is a test for Perry on the issue.

I did it and also posted Chas. letter and links on a forum I moderate. Hope it moves Perry to act.

Re: Special Session -- 2013

I'm not holding my breath on this one. I wrote him, referencing Mr. Cotton's fine letter. I previously testifed in front of the House. But Perry hasn't come through before. Why think he will this time?

Re: HB 972 -Not enough votes?

I confess Mojo, I volunteered to Alice Tripp and made the trip to Austin. My school's official position is dead set against campus carry. I spoke for it at work and then went to Austin. Spoke for campus carry at our run, hide, fight video seminar. Pointed out how those videos preclude the most effic...

Re: HB 972 -Not enough votes?

Well, Chas - at this House session, I heard several professors make cogent cases for campus carry. In fact, one of them made it into the Houston, San Antonio and Dallas papers - as well as being interviewed on the TV news. Their commentary clearly contradicted the silliness of professors from UT or ...

Sad to say that I heard this back during the House hearings. Well, I tried.

Re: Support HB972 - not a dud!

I'm sorry but if for faculty and staff - you can be terminated for carry, it effectively negates legal carry. If you were fired for such as a faculty member, you could kiss getting another academic job good-bye. A life-long career is ruined. That's a mighty effective sanction. With or without signs ...

Re: Support HB972 - not a dud!

“The House bill allows public universities to opt out, and allows private schools to opt in, so the presidents of each campus can make the decision. That’s better than (state Sen. Brian) Birdwell’s bill that doesn’t allow that. “ IMHO - this will make the bill meaningless. The vast majority of scho...

Re: campus carry makes it to the floor

Isn't it dead this session, realistically? BTW, there was no real attempt by the Gov. or Lt. Gov. to get it through beyond some talk.

Re: San Antonio Events Center posted?

Saxet shows have been posted after some idiot negligent discharges. This was quite awhile ago. I talked to the guy who run the show. They said it was because of liability. They didn't want to as it gave the wrong message. Before the moron bang-bang, I know they allowed concealed carry when asked abo...

Report on instructor from TFL post: The radio personality ( instructor in question ) you are thinking of is Jim Pruett, he was on the radio here in Houston back in the 90's and now owns a local gun shop in Cypress Tx. They had him on one of the news channels as a local firearms and CHL experts revie...

Re: Delta sued for gun-related arrest

NYC gun laws are a horror. However, the Delta website says that if you check a gun, YOU are responsbile to know the laws at your destination. You are stupid if you don't. So that's a college president! Impressive. Also, I'm not OK with LET'S SUE - esp. when YOU are stupid. This is independent of NY ...

No, you are supposed say on the Internet that if it's a good shoot - nothing else matters.

Of course, you don't know if it's a good shoot until ultimately the jury says so. So you are so correct.

Re: Delta sued for gun-related arrest

While NYC's gun laws are an atrocity, I don't understand the basis for the suit. It is not the responsible of a company if you decide to break the law of a region. Delta's website says: If you need to travel with a weapon as checked baggage, you are responsible for knowledge of and compliance with a...
