Re: New member needs advice with a serious issue

I would just like to comment on 'opening the door with a gun at my side'. Besides the potential legal issues of being perceived as threatening with a gun - a person bent on doing you harm will be already prepared to shoot you, stab your or just punch you in your head. So - OPEN - START to MAKE SPEEC...

http://www.krtraining.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has an Austin area faq on matches, training and range.

Very useful if you want to shoot and/or compete.

Re: Maximum Distance for Self-Defense Shooting

Haha - if you use the median - you are prepared for the 50% less intense incidents. I get the joke! Tom is an awesome instructor. If comes around your area - like Karl Rehn's - jump at the chance. Interestingly, Mas Ayoob was on one of the gun defense shows the other day talking about the long but r...

Re: Close Quarters Confrontations?

The course might have come and gone but I'd recommend them. I've taken several of their classes. Well worth - no bull and very practical.

Well, if you are willing to drive to Giddings on 290, can't do better for basics than http://www.krtraining.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Quality program, no commando wannabee. NO, I don't have a business stake in them. Just buddies and been through their courses. Start with th...

Re: Maximum Distance for Self-Defense Shooting

One can check out Tom Given's analyses of SD shootings at http://www.rangemaster.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. He has quite a few cases that break the 2 to 3 shot, close in stereotype. One must study to break the internet cliches. One common error is to assume the average is wh...

Re: Baretta Bobcat .22LR problems

The small semi 22s are notorious for feeding problems. Don't ask about the Taurus PT-22 that I had. I've seen a friend's Bobcat do the same. So let me ask, what is the for? If not for a plinker and you like this size and tip - up, the 25 ACPS are more reliable. Yes, I know the entire stopping power ...

Re: Women and .380 pistols

Most men think they are natural gunslingers and can teach the little lady. Check out http://www.corneredcat.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - by my friend Kathy Jackson, it has a wealth of advice on guns for womens. It punctures the cliches and gives excellent recommendations. In ...

Re: Pitfalls with certain SD tactics?

Having done a lot of FOF, if you start jawing in the open - you are a big fat target. If you open your front door and see burglars - turn around and run. Second, bad people have heard profanity all the time - you are not going to scare them by such. You are wasting time jawing. In fact, while you ar...

Re: Bad prospects for future campus carry?

If I recall correctly, Alice Tripp wrote that Perry could have put the campus carry bill on the emergency agenda to have prevented the committee roadblock that the bill hit. He put things like abortion-ultrasound on that agenda (as it was a base pleasing bill). I didn't keep the issue around but it ...

Re: Bad prospects for future campus carry?

Certainly, helped him out. "rlol" Interestingly, Virginia Tech was just found liable by a jury for not attacking to prevent the massacre. They didn't act quick enough to the first incident which they dismissed as a domestic. It is also well know that they ignored warnings about Cho from faculty and ...

Re: Bad prospects for future campus carry?

IIRC, said in the TSRA mag last year, the Gov was informed that he could intervene to save the bill from legislative chicanery and he chose NOT to do so. Used his powers on other crap for the conservative base but seems to have missed this one. Maybe coyotes should move onto the UT and A&M campuses ...

No sponsors for the next try?

Anybody know more? Shame that the Gov. decided to not to help out this past time, when the votes seemed to be there.
