Re: Cataracts

TAM, In 2010 I was diagnosed with sudden-onset cataracts after being treated with very strong steroids for a different life-threatening issue. After having bad vision and wearing glasses and/or contacts my entire life, getting artificial lenses and subsequent lasik has been a amazing, life-altering ...

Re: Always Carry

I'm thinking that a phone call to your local police department is in order so they are aware of what happened. It may fit a pattern of robberies or attempted robberies in the area.

Re: Poll: What would be your only rifle?

One rifle for "all" North American game? No doubt it will be the 30.06. It will take care of it all, huge variety of ammo, and can come in way below budget even with decent glass. Which brand? Doesn't really matter. Any reputable maker will produce a good enough rifle to hunt with. A Savage with an...

"Back to the Future" moment with a LEO

Last Halloween we had a bit of a family emergency. I jumped on an American flight into Grand Island NE, rented a car and proceeded to drive North to my home town. I got about 20 miles out of GI and get pulled over. Anyone who lives there knows exactly where. A lot of tourists do too. I was speeding,...

Re: Alleged Big Spring Carjacker Shot Dead, Victim Arrested

Wouldn't that be the normal course which would occur to any of us who use our weapons? The police would have very little choice but to arrest and charge. That's what they do. IMO, it would be up to the DA and a Grand Jury to bill or no-bill. Or is my understanding flawed? Best of luck to the victim ...

No Problem

When I've asked someone to do something or to respond to a question, and I say "Thank you.", and they reply "No Problem". That always irritates me. If I'm in a retail store or a restaurant, I'm tempted to talk to a manager... Maybe I'm getting old but I thought the proper response to a thank you was...

Re: 911 orders womam to "put the gun down" as robbers enter

At least Florida's Castle Doctrine applies well in this case... Go Grandma! "(a) The person against whom the defensive force was used was in the process of unlawfully and forcefully entering, or had unlawfully and forcibly entered, a dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle, or if that person had re...

I'd like to personally raise a toast to the men and women of DPS and the *great* job they do on a daily basis.

Just my $0.02.

The process is getting better. Much better. I waited 60 days. Then waited some more.
