Re: SB 288 - Motorcycle "lane splitting" bill

There are folks in Kalifornia, being ignorant of the law, who will attempt to stop a rider, usually out of jealousy, by opening a door or poking their vehicle's nose into the space. There was a state study done where people confessed to intentionally doing this because "it's not fair." http://roadwa...

Re: Today's Doctor Visit

The current hospice I chaplain for is unique in that way. I was sitting in the conference room of one of the nursing homes in Fort Worth we service to help provide support to their staff since their beloved administrator was found dead in her home. We were chatting while waiting for staff to show up...

Re: Calexit

As an intellectual and moral matter, the rights to self-government, free speech, self-defense, etc are based on the notion they are inherent to our existence and given by God. As a practical matter, they are based on violence, on the use of force -- the Founding Fathers and the Continental Army and...

Yeah, people's voices don't buzz after I hear a balloon pop next to my ear. I fired a handgun once without hearing protection. Never again.

Re: Need help - our new employee got arrested a week ago

I'd ask your lawyer about it and this is why. I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know all the ins and outs of unemployment law. That said, if you let her go for the arrest and that is not a listed reason for termination in her contract or the employee handbook, I would think that would fall under involunt...

I believe age of consent is 17 in Texas, but not positive.

It's the Valley. I'm actually from Weslaco. Shooting guns in the air is the MO for about any type of party. That's one of the reasons I never celebrate NYE back home.

Re: LAW Adapter Install ready for test firing

Nice setup! I'm missing something. I don't see any anti-tank weapon on this thing. That's the first thing I thought, too. My dad a National Guard Regular and staffed the local armory. He brought home an expended M72 LAW for me to look at when I was about 10 years old. It had been checked out to him ...

Re: Can an 18 year old legally have a handgun in his posession in Texas?

IANAL, but while it is illegal to purchase a handgun while you're under 21, it is not a crime for an 18 year old to have one. It cannot leave the house in his possession. That said: it's your house and your rules. It sounds to me like your son needs some better friends, too. I might also contact LE ...

I get things in the same vein for my moonlight business of tutoring. I typically work on a referral only basis (I take referrals from colleagues and TAs at other colleges). However, I do have a Wyzant profile. The spam usually comes through Wyzant. The latest was actually sounded legit so I responde...

Re: Making your own cleaning patches for bore cleaning?

I remember as a teenager my grandpa stopped my while I was cleaning my glasses with a paper towel because the paper would scratch them. He died on 2008 at 99 if that gives you an idea of the timeframe. Of course I protested, and he explained. He was a diesel mechanic. Paper, according to him, is a v...

Re: Campus carry at private schools

The school I adjunct at has posted signage in accordance with 30.06 and 07 (though open carry is already not allowed on campus by statute). At every entrance to every building. However, they are making an exception to licensed faculty and staff to be, at their request and at the school's discretion ...
