Re: Half Cock on Holstering

Several thoughts come to mind: 2. If the gun is bouncing around, it sounds like you're not using a real gun belt. 3. Any time I holster a hammer-fired pistol (and all of mine are hammer-fired) I put my thumb on the back of the hammer and use that to push the pistol home. If you're pushing on the ha...

Re: Had a run in with an interesting so called oc person this weekend

You handled this well. Kudos on keeping your cool. I know a fellow like this. He hasn't been in trouble in a long time, but he's had his past. He doesn't claim to have his LTC, but he insists he has the right to carry. I haven't seen him in a couple of years, but he surfaces every once in a while tr...

Re: Had a run in with an interesting so called oc person this weekend

Prison vs. Jail. Aren't crimes sentenced to prison always felonies? I know that som jail sentences are felonies but I was under the impression that prison=felony. May be showing my ignorance here, but that is what I have always thought. This is usually the case. I believe the exception being a stat...

Re: Hedging the election

I was doing the same thing. I looked at several AR's. A pawn shop I buy a lot from had a couple of AR's for ~$600. I was going to go ahead and throw some money down to put the S&W on layaway when something caught my eye. It was a never fired Norinco SKS that had been marked down to $250. It came wit...

I drive buy this place about every day. It's on Haskell east of 75 just past City Place. http://www.theflagstore.com. I don't know if they have what you're looking for (8"x12"), but they might.

...it's just better to shield the kids from anything gun related.
So I guess that means the school's SRO is unarmed?

Re: Can't carry TWO guns

I occasionally carry two. I'll carry my Smith & Wesson 5904 IWB with a full mag +1 and an extra full mag on the belt in a nylon pouch (31 round total). I'll also have on my belt two spare mags for the ankle holstered Taurus 709 which has a full mag +1 (22 round total). I guess that makes two guns fo...

Re: Unrestricted Carry For LTC - What Would You Be Willing To Give Up?

:iagree: This is what I have been trying to say all along whenever this "property rights" issue comes up. Soccerdad just summarized it as succinctly as I've seen. There will be some people arguing that conditional entry with any sign as a notice is already the law (30.05), but it's never been held ...

Opportunity to win a gun and benefit cancer patients

I don't know if this is the appropriate sub forum for this, so mods feel free to move it. I just got off the daily conference call with the rest of the team at my hospice company HQ'd in Fort Worth. I'm the chaplain for the company's Gun Barrel City branch (but I live in Dallas). There is a benefit ...

Great contact with Kemp Police

I got pulled over for the first time in about 8 years today. I was late for a meeting and was flying down 175 at around 80-85. I generally don't speed. I had a Kemp police officer pull me over. I presented DL and LTC. He handed back my LTC and asked if I had any moving violations in the past 5 years...

That looks like said state university either needs a better lawyer or is trying to satisfy the anti-gun crowd.

Re: Bass Pro buying Cabela's

We're just down to 2 choices; Cabela's/Bass Pro and Academy's. Dick's is anti-2nd A. They pulled "assault rifles" off shelves after the mass shooting at the elementary school. They pulled handguns off shelves, too. Recently, they've put handguns back on shelves in the Dallas location, for now. What...

Re: Bass Pro buying Cabela's

Hopefully they keep Cabela's uniqueness. Their prices and selection on the 7.62x39 and 54r cartridges cannot be beat when it comes to local purchase. Bass Pro is pretty pathetic when it comes to those calibers.

For us highly trained super secret agent operators, this situational awareness has been hammered into us since we went through BUD/S (basic underwater demolition SEAL) training, Ranger School, and the CIA "Farm" training. As well as learning on "the job" in every hellhole from Baghdad to Moscow to ...

Re: Just 3% of Americans own almost 50% of the country’s guns, study says

This is an outrage. This increasing gap of inequality of firearm ownership between the 3% and the 97% must not be allowed to continue. I'm going to write my congressperson right now demanding redistribution of firearms so we can close this gap! It is only then that we can fundamentally transform Ame...
