I believe you are a few days late. From the NRA website:
After being granted a charter by the state of New York on November 17, 1871, the NRA was founded.

Re: Help! eye problems with holosight on AR.

Since it changes when you change eyes, I am guessing it is your right eye. Have one of your buddies check the sight out. If it looks OK to him, that would pretty much verify the sight is OK. I think most holographic sights do not provide magnification, or only a little. 'Regular' scopes do, which ma...

Re: Texas M4??

The most informative single thread I have run across about AR-15s (for serious purposes) is this: "So You Want to Buy an AR-15, huh?" http://forums.officer.com/showthread.php?t=81462" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; In reference to whether to get .223 vs 5.56, as far as I can tell it d...

Re: Grady's BBQ 51%?

Very interesting. There is a long-time CHL instructor/police officer in San Antonio that conducts his monthly classes at the Grady's on Bandera Rd, and has done so for years. Like you, I can't imagine a Grady's really breaks the 51% mark...

Re: At The Polls (no...not a political topic)

A cop standing around in uniform is on duty whether he is directing traffic or eating a burger, whether he or anyone else likes it or not. I am an election judge also, and during the last election I had a number of city police, county, constables, game wardens and whatever come into my poll. If I we...

Re: Carrying in New Orleans

Personally, I don't think I'd want to go to New Orleans without close air support! TSRA's magazine once quoted one of Louisiana's legislatures speaking in favor of their CHL laws as saying, (paraphrased, but the "patois" was in the original): "I always carries me a gun when I travel around Louisian...

Re: John Farnam at Sportsman's Outlet Nov 21-23-08

I have been to two of John's classes. Excellent all-round course in the mental, legal, administrative, and tactical areas of defensive handgun. Everyboy who ever asked "How do I handle the cops after..." should go. $525 is cheap for what you get. I have posted reviews of his basic and advanced handg...

Re: Bureaucratic Trivia -- Disposal of Expired CHL?

Aha! I knew somebody here knew where to look. Thus it is, that the only point in time where a return is necessary is when changing from the non-semi-auto to semi-auto categories. (or vice-versa, I suppose, but who would do that?) As a point of reference, I once updated my address, in a timely fashio...

Bureaucratic Trivia -- Disposal of Expired CHL?

On another board, a poster asserted that when one renews his CHL in Texas, one must send the old one back to DPS, and further that one's current license can be suspended for not doing so. I am in askance of this, because I recently renewed mine (May-June 08, 35 days :woohoo ), and the documentation ...

Re: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

Interesting movie trailer, will keep an eye out for it. As for Dachau, I visited it in about 1987 or so, and again a few years later. I found it kind of...disappointing, sort of too neat and bland. Pretty much all the barracks had long been removed, just a few representative samples were standing, e...

Re: Firefighters, house fires, and ammunition

I haven't been a firefighter nearly as long as fire128, but in the numerous training sessions I have been in a stockpile of ammunition has not been one of the concerns. There are a lot of other lethal things in a burning house that a firefighter is much more likely to be exposed to -- smoke and real...

Re: Question regarding restraining order

IANAL, but I think you need to talk to one. This is the bit of advice you need to follow. It is a shame, but you cannot navigate the legal system without one. Even if she lies to the court, her lawyer, everyone else to get a legal action taken against you, and eventually gets found out and jailed a...
