When Television News Anchors Become Gun Control Activists

In the worst mass public shooting, a killer in Las Vegas used AR-15s, a type of semi-automatic rifle, to murder 58 people. The second worst attack occurred at an Orlando nightclub in 2016, and the killer used both an AR-15 style rifle as well as a very commonly-owned handgun. In the third worst att...

Re: Houston area shops

By the way, though I haven't done a lot of business there, the people at Fountain Firearms ( Route 6 and Bissonet) seem nice, and I enjoy going in to look around.

Any place I regularly go, I usually have some idea about the locations of both gun and cigar shops.

Re: Houston area shops

I suggest Carter's Country if you ever get homesick for the restrictive laws in your home state. :biggrinjester: Point of curiosity. I'm not from Houston, and the only two Houston-area gun shops I know about are Carter's Country and Fountain Firearms (near my sister's house). I've bought ammo at bo...

Re: Nobody but Corey Booker

Last night, at the first Democratic candidate debate for the 2020 campaign, Sen. Cory Booker (D–N.J.) . . . said, "If you need a license to drive a car, you should need a license to buy and own a firearm. And not everybody in this field agrees with that, but in states like Connecticut that did that...

Development of Pocket Pistols

In Shooting Illustrated, Tamara Keel offers an article entitled: "The Pocket Pistol in 2019: How Far Have We Come? Before I go further, I should probably take a moment to define my terms. After all, “pocket pistol” has covered a lot of turf over the years. Smith & Wesson’s No. 2 Army was a “pocket p...

Marine Corps Adopts Sig Sauer M18

SIG Sauer announced this week that the U.S. Marine Corps is adopting the M18—the compact version of the U.S. Army’s Modular Handgun System (MHS)—as its official duty pistol. Speculation the branch would go with one of the two MHS versions was put to rest in the Navy’s 2019 budget estimate [PDF]—pub...

Re: California to Texas migration

Instapundit (pjmedia.com/instapundit/) argues that someone such as the Koch Brothers should fund a welcome wagon of sorts for newcomers to Texas from blue states. The idea is to deliver to them literature and engage them in discussions to help them see that the differences in policies between red an...

Re: Ban carry at a parade or street festival on public streets

The statute prohibits signs on property owned or leased by a governmental entity. This event is happening on the streets, which typically are easements. Rarely does any level of government own the fee, putting aside highways, which TxDOT now buys in fee. Does the easement count as governmental owner...

Re: Ban carry at a parade or street festival on public streets

Am I the only one who notices the irony of a parade that celebrates inclusiveness and personal freedom of expression wanting to limit the ability of those who attend to protect themselves while doing so. Because those hosting it aren't about inclusiveness and freedom. They're about demonstrating po...

Re: Governor Abbott Signs Ten Pro-Second Amendment Bills into Law

So what is the outcome of House Bill 1791? Will it have any real impact on the local government and associated groups hanging signs? The bill's a good thing, but I doubt it will reach signs such as those universally posted by the City of San Antonio. Paraphrasing, they say carrying is banned unless...

Re: Ask Amy...

I’ve given her three choices: She can either give her weapon to me, sell it or move out in three weeks. The article goes on to make clear that the hysterical father thinks his neighborhood is safe, but that his daughter will be financially strapped if forced to move. So he's willing to make her mov...
