Re: Mass murder in gun free Japan - 33 die

No guns, so no further mention in US press. Great point, of course we are all not supose to notice that. Glad you brought to light! Indeed. This is exactly the point of a recent article. Whatever the reason, the lesser attention given to mass killings that do not invoke guns is disrespectful to the...

They, in the form of Antifa, have already started it. It will be interesting to see if Antifa spreads away from left-wing enclaves.

Re: Walkabout In The Weminuche Wilderness

They add a step at LAX. An LAPD officer runs your weapon serial number to see if it is stolen. My bet is that d#@! few stolen weapons are checked as legitimate luggage. The cost-benefit ratio is surely off kilter with such checks, but equally surely their goal is to tweak around legitimate gun owne...

Walkabout In The Weminuche Wilderness

The link is to a blog post about trekking in the Colorado Mountains. That alone is fascinating, but he also mentions the weapon he carried, the modification he made to it, and related gear. All in all, a worthwhile read. Travelling With Firearms, And The Stupidity Of The TSA We don’t have any compla...

Stun Gun Treated as Deadly Weapon

Hitting someone with a hand-held stun-gun that causes no permanent damage might strike some as a not very serious offense, but aggravated battery is no joke in terms of potential sentencing. Under Florida law aggravated battery is a second-degree felony good for up to 15 years in prison. That’s a l...

Ever since Quantico OCS I've regarded laminating a top map as the default approach.

When Television News Anchors Become Gun Control Activists

In the worst mass public shooting, a killer in Las Vegas used AR-15s, a type of semi-automatic rifle, to murder 58 people. The second worst attack occurred at an Orlando nightclub in 2016, and the killer used both an AR-15 style rifle as well as a very commonly-owned handgun. In the third worst att...

Re: Houston area shops

By the way, though I haven't done a lot of business there, the people at Fountain Firearms ( Route 6 and Bissonet) seem nice, and I enjoy going in to look around.

Any place I regularly go, I usually have some idea about the locations of both gun and cigar shops.

I suggest Carter's Country if you ever get homesick for the restrictive laws in your home state. :biggrinjester: Point of curiosity. I'm not from Houston, and the only two Houston-area gun shops I know about are Carter's Country and Fountain Firearms (near my sister's house). I've bought ammo at bo...

Re: Nobody but Corey Booker

Last night, at the first Democratic candidate debate for the 2020 campaign, Sen. Cory Booker (D–N.J.) . . . said, "If you need a license to drive a car, you should need a license to buy and own a firearm. And not everybody in this field agrees with that, but in states like Connecticut that did...

Development of Pocket Pistols

In Shooting Illustrated, Tamara Keel offers an article entitled: "The Pocket Pistol in 2019: How Far Have We Come? Before I go further, I should probably take a moment to define my terms. After all, “pocket pistol” has covered a lot of turf over the years. Smith & Wesson’s No. 2 Army was a ...

Marine Corps Adopts Sig Sauer M18

SIG Sauer announced this week that the U.S. Marine Corps is adopting the M18—the compact version of the U.S. Army’s Modular Handgun System (MHS)—as its official duty pistol. Speculation the branch would go with one of the two MHS versions was put to rest in the Navy’s 2019 budget estimate [PDF]—pub...
