Things to Do on a Friday Night in Arlington/Grand Prairie

Gonna be in the Arlington area with my family on a Friday/Saturday in the future. Any suggestions on places to take young children and pregnant wife?

Re: Once a Marine...

I will usually introduce my status (if asked, not shoehorned in) simply as "I'm a Marine" but I have been known to say former Marine. My understanding is that former is short for former-(ly active) Marine. But yes, "ex-Marine," "I was in the Marines," and "I used to be a Marine" are only appropriate...

Re: Shooting at Car Thieves

Also, I rememeber that when I originally took my CHL class, the instructor mentioned some law that allows one to use deadly force to stop a thief from stealing property but only unrecoverable/untraceable property. If the stolen item could be traced back to you if found by the police, you may not us...

Re: Shooting at Car Thieves

Everyone needs to be as familiar with Texas law as much as possible if you have an LTC/CHL. I cringe when people tell me they used a Groupon deal or somehow found the cheapest LTC instructor they could find. I always refer people to Charles and I tell them to really pay attention when he talks abou...

Re: 06 / 07 on same sign?

Can a single sign be used for both 06 and 07 in a single wording or does each one need it's own individual sign to be valid? IOW, Pursuant to 30.06 & 30.07 etc etc exactly like that, not a really large single sign with Pursuant to 30.06 etc. and below that Pursuant to 30.07 etc.. The law states wha...

Re: HB 497 - Add Types and Uses of Ammunition to Required LTC Course Curriculum

I think it's important to note that the existing law does not require any certain type of holster, and we here on the boards have pondered ad nauseum as to whether this holster or that fits the wording of "belt or shoulder holster." Forcing LTC instructors to cover holster types when no specific def...

Mercy Killing of Animals

Another post I just read made a question pop into my head: are there circumstances where it is legal in Texas to kill an animal to relieve pain and suffering? If so, what are they? For example - I found a pigeon in my back yard a couple weeks ago that had been badly wounded - mauled by a cat perhaps...

Had a good LEO experience yesterday

I was bringing in some stuff from the car after a trip to the hardware store. I was OC with jeans and a polo. An old man walked past the house so I waved and said hello, and he waved back. 20 seconds later I hear a loud noise and look over and see the old man face-down on the ground in the street. I...

Re: LTC Not Accepted at Polling Location

I used my LTC when I voted. It wouldn't scan and the lady actually commented to her partner "I have not been able to scan ANY LTCs all day!" and they were looking at it and it looks like the barcode on the back is different on the DL and LTC. Like the barcode they are set up to scan doesn't exist on...

Re: Are you voting in the 2018 Midterms?

My wife finally got her proof of citizenship a few months ago after mistakenly having a green card (because her dad was too stupid to get her US citizenship when she was born abroad). She is registered and this will be her first time voting - we're both headed out to keep Texas red this afternoon! :...

Re: Medical Facilities

Wait, I'm confused. How does being on government property factor into the validity of the signage? I thought the AG opinion RE: Dallas Zoo basically said that private entities operating on government property have the authority to post valid signs. Am I missing something? The opinion was very caref...

Re: Medical Facilities

In my experience, virtually any healthcare or medical related facility will be posted. Doctors have to have enough individual variety that this isn't a coincidence. There must be some mandate somewhere. Does anyone know where? Well, sort of. There is a requirement in Government Code section 411.204...
