Re: Does This AR Custom Build Look Okay?

Still hard to say without knowing what barrel, upper, hand guard etc. I would assume with a spikes lower and geissele trigger that everything else would be of the same quality. i.e. Most people aren't putting a $200 trigger into a $400 gun. Depending on what is in the upper I'd still lean towards o...

Re: Does This AR Custom Build Look Okay?

....OTH, like a folded up Keltec Sub-2000 and a suppressor, with 4 or 5 33-round Glock stick mags would fit nicely in a messenger bag, and it’s legal to carry past ‘06/‘07 signs. :evil2: Not that I would ever do such a thing..... But still. A Keltec back brace, for medical reasons?..lol. Hey, peopl...

Re: Does This AR Custom Build Look Okay?

Something I hadn't thought about, but is certainly worth pondering is how firearms were confiscated during the Katrina disaster. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=katrina+gun+confiscation I'm not saying that a high end AR isn't something you'd want to have around, but there may be situati...

Re: Does This AR Custom Build Look Okay?

It even has a name. Black Rifle Disease. If I buy a pink one, does that mean I'm not addicted?..lol. ...Yep, the one TAM posted is the Sport Optics Ready Carbine... They also have a Sport with Magpul furniture from the factory.... Would it be more economical to get the Magpul furniture on the...

Re: Does This AR Custom Build Look Okay?

What will probably happen is that, rather than selling/trading that carbine away, you’ll end up upgrading it component by component. A few years later, you will still have all the original parts, but they’ll be in different rifles, and you’ll find that you have six of them in your safe, not entirel...

Re: Does This AR Custom Build Look Okay?

Excellent advice! Good Optics can go on just about any rifle. They shouldn't wear out, and will probably be with you long after the rifle has been traded or replaced.

Re: Does This AR Custom Build Look Okay?

Okay, so a decent AR can be had for $500.
How much more "joy" could be had for $700 total? It's kind of like bicycles.
There's a point of diminishing returns at a certain cost point I'm sure.

Again, thanks for all the helpful advice! This has been a really good community.

Re: Does This AR Custom Build Look Okay?

I’d go Ruger or S&W as well for that price. That being said, I have a PSA rifle that was my first AR which I bought about five years ago and it’s been flawless. My dad has a couple PSA rifles and they have been flawless as well. I wouldn’t trust a polymer upper and lower though. PSA seems to have s...

Re: Does This AR Custom Build Look Okay?

You have GOT to be kidding!
Another ad just went up with (you guessed it) a Tennessee Arms lower! It's $500 asking price.

I think an S&W Sport is looking better and better. Especially for someone like me who's not very educated on home-builds.

Re: Does This AR Custom Build Look Okay?

You guys are killing me! :banghead: I was pretty stoked about having a $500 AR for the weekend. But the fit and finish is questionable. Plus, it is made of low end parts. My wife would thank you!..lol. It may be an okay AR. And the polymer might work out well. There's just so many chances taken thou...

Re: Does This AR Custom Build Look Okay?

If it were me I would stay away from polymer lowers. Punch in “problems with polymer lowers AR 15”,Nothing good will come of them in the long run I fear unless it is a “ safe gun”. Good point! I've been doing some research on that. Many people have had problems with them. I'm wondering if anyone ha...

Re: Does This AR Custom Build Look Okay?

I just started looking into that myself. Apparently, there's what they call an 80% build. Which seems to be legal to build and use. But not to sell! I've looked up what I believe is the "lower" for the rifle in question. The company DOES make serialized lowers. I've emailed the seller asking if this...

Re: Does This AR Custom Build Look Okay?

Price is down to $500 with a box of ammo.
I'm really tempted, but I don't want to bother the guy with just browsing/looking.

Does This AR Custom Build Look Okay?

Re: Kel-Tec SU-16C - Advise Appreciated!

....That said, for what it is, the Sub-2K is a fun and utilitarian little carbine. I would expect the same kind of description to apply to the SU-16 .....a fun and utilitarian carbine with accuracy adequate to self-protection at ranges inside of 150 or so yards. It is NOT something that I would con...
