Re: Anyone Interested in .357 Mag Revolver Shotshells?

Well Guys, I was hoping to post some pics along the way. The Annoyed Man gave me some help, and I was able to recover my old Photobucket account. Unfortunately, none of the different options will work. Or not, at least when I check the preview for my posts. Photobucket is really kind of contrary in ...

Re: 150 grain hard cast full wadcutters (non +p)

Stash, the 158 gr. SWCHP used by the FBI was rated +P. I included that originally with my previous post but changed it since you may want to stay away from +P loads. I don't have data for the 148 gr. Hollow Base Wadcutters used in reverse while I believe the same powder charges were used while they ...

Re: 150 grain hard cast full wadcutters (non +p)

Maybe the most prolific gunfighter of the 20th century was the late Jim Cirillo. Before JHPs became the mainstay of defense loads, he handloaded 148 gr. hollow cavity wadcutters in reverse with the hollow cavity forward. I don't know of a commercial version, but there are several options for 158 gr....

Re: Frangible rounds

The greatest challenge appears to be finding the bullets you want or can make. I would certainly keep crimping issues in mind; particular .223/5.56mm loads that really need a crimp for running through autoloaders. It could turn out you'll need to load the rounds individually. If you have some type o...

Re: Anyone Interested in .357 Mag Revolver Shotshells?

The patterns when using the CCI loads, or making your own, are guesstimated at 1" per foot, and that's more than I want. My older SPEER #11 data lists 7 1/2, 8 and 9 shot being usable for .44 and .45 Colt. Only #9 shot for .38/.357 Mag. Since I'm not using a capsule, I did see what I'd hoped to with...

Re: GRT - Gordon's Reloading Tool

Very interesting and this is the first I've heard of it. I don't have Quik Load on my computer, but I've had others run my data and furnish me a copy. Really excellent tool, but not perfect. Things like time to pressure max, heat of explosion, load density, predicted pressure and velocity are just a...

Re: 1911 Bug bites again. Which one?

The Ruger SR1911 was mentioned. It's stainless, but it is available in black over stainless. The price goes up a bit, but it's not prohibitive. Buying 1911s can be habit forming. Self customizing follows. There are some very good videos to teach about anything you'd like to customize. Brownells has ...

If you don't like the trigger on a series 80, there's an easy remedy for that. At the price point you're looking at. I wouldn't overlook Dan Wesson. ;-)

Re: Anyone Interested in .357 Mag Revolver Shotshells?

Okay, made up a dozen rounds Monday eve. 98 grs of 7 1/2 without the capsule. The best way I can describe making the first loads is like Ruger's terminology for investment casting referred to as the "lost wax" method. And I certainly lost wax. Too much to try it again, so I'll use a mini size glue g...

Re: A little more of the NRA is being told

Gotta correct my previous post. Cornyn has 2 republican opponents: Dwayne Stovall and Mark Yancey. Starting in 2012, Stovall ran unsuccessfully for the House District 18. He opposed Cornyn in 2014 and ran for congress again unsuccessfully for the 36th district. ;-) I'm not a huge fan of Cornyn, BUT...

Re: A little more of the NRA is being told

Perhaps he could now best serve the NRA by stepping back and letting someone else be that public persona that represents us all. I see you point but if he stepped back now, he'd look guilty of everything he's been accused of and the reputation of the NRA is drug further down in the mud. At a minimu...

I don't cast any bullets but this is very interesting. I have thought once or twice about taking .358" cast lead bullets and reducing their diameter to .356" for 9mm loads. ;-)
You can buy the inexpensive Lee sizing-kit for your press - $20:

Thanks, Andy, got it bookmarked. ;-)
