Brazilian Mom shoots robber

Nice job, although I wish news sites would slow down the video on re-play so that we can better learn from it. It happens so fast.

Re: Austin based Yeti quits doing business with NRA

I encourage people to consider Cabela's name-branded coolers (I am not personally affiliated with the brand or store). I own a Yeti 45 only because it was first on the market in its class (they really do work and can keep ice for a week as advertised - I haul frozen food cross-continent in mine). If...

Re: Benbrook PD Called for Gun Tshirt in Park

I would be surprised if there was a person out there who couldn't claim a stereotyping story of some sort. I have very short salt-and-pepper hair which I cannot and will not dye (lap swimmer), and I don't wear make-up, do my nails, or wear heels. Occasionally I get addressed in a disrespectful way b...

Re: Benbrook PD Called for Gun Tshirt in Park

Annoyed Man argues his points convincingly. There is a much larger issue at stake here. We are moving into a time period where the acceptance of personal responsibility is increasingly unpopular. Whenever a confrontation of any type occurs, many people now default to narcissistic finger-wagging at t...

Re: Benbrook PD Called for Gun Tshirt in Park

Johnston wearing that shirt is analogous to the young woman with the perky little bottom wearing the short skirt discussed in a thread gone by. In that other thread, most of this forum's commenters acknowledged that, if the woman wears the skirt, then she has to accept the consequences that it brin...

Re: Benbrook PD Called for Gun Tshirt in Park

Quote the linked story: “I figured I might get some comments or looks,” Johnston said. If Johnston didn't want to go to Chicago, then why did he get on that train? He fully knew that he was getting on the train - he said so himself! Johnston wearing that shirt is analogous to the young woman with th...

Re: Palo Duro Canyon State Park / Texas Outdoor Musical?

In the consideration of logistics, note that Palo Duro is located in the country's second largest canyon, and the park itself is the most popular state park nation-wide (the staff claims). It is very difficult to get reservations. Some of the back country camping sites are let on a first-come-first-...

+1 on winning the forum. We all have a small role to play in public education. But a bunch of small roles can add up to big changes.

Re: Land survey to GPS coordinates

I'm glad your surveyor came through for you - it should have been pinned in the first place. I have 5 acres in a thickly-forested area and I had surveyor's pins in place but still, I could not see diddly in all that mess. It cost about a grand to hire someone to cut and blaze the entire perimeter la...

Re: CARRY QUESTION

... Call the number and ask! Just ask if you are allowed to walk the easement. If you are not trespassing, then. The 06, 07 sign doss not apply... Easy! ;-) Not so easy, because it invokes a can of worms that might be best not opened. Large numbers of local people walk their dogs in this particular...

Re: Local Judge sues shooting range, earplug manufacturer

A case like this was brought a few years ago against an indoor range in League City. If you scroll to the portion of this page stamped 05/10/13--11:33, you can see that the shooting range prevailed in the litigation.

... IANAL but i'd say just the fence because that's where it's located. This is what I had been assuming, but you know what they say about the word "assume". I thought I'd ask here because easements were being discussed. Many easements include pipelines transporting highly flammable product. I have...

Re: UK outlaws home delivery of knives purchased online

Also along the lines of UK silliness... I have a paying subscription to the English publication called The Economist. It contains no shortage of liberally-slanted condemnation-oriented opinion pieces on America's "gun culture". And of course handguns are largely banned in Britain. Simultaneously as ...
