Re: Revolvers

I don't "prefer" them but I own two and carry one, because at this stage in my development, I simply have more confidence with it. It may not be the choice of the highly-skilled, but I don't pretend to be highly skilled.

There's a listing for Jersey Village. That's all I found for this area.

Re: Beyond the One Percent: How do we get more people to attend training beyond the state minimum?

Thanks for the replies to this thread - this is great information that I intend to put to use. Since my LTC was re-issued a few weeks back (I'd let it lapse years ago), I've carried on two occasions, both times taking what I call my "idiot gun" with me - a S&W titanium 38 revolver (I call it "idiot ...

.... 3. Only a fraction of LTC students will take even intermediate classes, much less advanced classes; a. Most think additional training isn't necessary (See No. 7 below); b. Many are turned off by high pressure sales pitches during LTC classes; c. Many simply don't have the money for additional ...

Re: Beyond the One Percent: How do we get more people to attend training beyond the state minimum?

We live in an information-overload society. In order to get more people to shoot, something has to make information about good classes rise to the top of peoples' awareness piles. That doesn't seem to be stressed in the referenced author's slide show, but as someone for whom shooting is not the prim...

Re: no fixed abode

We full time rv. We have an address at Escapees in Livingston. Our mail goes ther and we call when we want it. They have been to court and it is a valid address for voting, registration, banking etc. +1. This is a popular option with many people who travel and also work, in part because Texas has n...

Re: Conceal methods for women

A little bit sideways on the thread topic, but after multiple vicious dog attacks in my neighborhood, I discovered the delight of having a shark knife (made for SCUBA divers) strapped to my leg. It's inexpensive, the straps are rubber so they don't slip and slide, and it doesn't weigh much, so I bar...

Re: Nervous about my proficiency test next week

I suggest that you go to the range and practice a couple of times before the test, if there is time for you to do so. That will help you relax. MANY people are nervous during that test. It was sobering for me to hear all of the off-cue shots being fired during my class's test in January of this year...

Re: "Waiting Room"

All my stuff submitted January 18, 2018... plastic in hand March 2, 2018. And not a moment too soon, apparently. Less than 24 hours ago, yet another neighbor wrote a scathing report on social media about her family member being trapped in a personal vehicle until yet another loose pit bull wandered ...

I took a look at that list. Nobody in Harris or Galveston Counties. That's five million prospective diners off the list, at least in terms of convenience.

Re: Pig Hunting

I've got no personal experience with this, but I've been told that, in some areas, the males are live-caught and castrated, and then their ears are notched and they are released. Future hunters can see the ear notch and realize that the meat will be of better quality due to the previous castration....

Wow! You guys definitely seem to be getting them in faster than mine. I’m still pending on my background check. 37 days since I’ve submitted everything! FWIW, my husband suspects that you are correct in your previous suspicion – that those of us with prior background checks take longer because DPS ...

Re: "Waiting Room"

I had ONE traffic ticket 14-ish years ago which was not entered into my record because I went through the process (drivers education course, etc.). It did not impact my car insurance rates in any way. That's my only potential appearance in the public records of an enforcement nature. I did file an a...
