Re: Louisville man:Billy Jack(son) wins against 2 armed robbers

Herb, I think there is a world of difference between grieving over the deaths of the two perps, and feeling terrible that you had to kill someone. The latter would describe me. Would I kill somebody if I had to? Sure. I wouldn't even hesitate. But I believe that all human life is precious, even if i...

Re: Quick Range Question.

If you're willing to drive to DFW, there's the Elm Fork range. I shot somebody's .50 cal Desert Eagle there about a month ago.

Re: stererotyping

Nah, I think generally the stereotypes are often well earned So, will treating them disrespectfully bring them over to our side and advance the cause of gun rights? Wrong headed people frustrate the heck out of me. I chose my screen name years ago specifically because I am irritated by stupid think...

I would never argue against calling a spade a spade, but if it is at all possible to do so respectfully, then that will be your best witness.

Re: NRA begins filing lawsuits againt San Fran and Chicago!!

The ruling was quickly seized upon by John McCain, who in recent months has tried to repair a fractured relationship with the gun lobby stemming from his support of regulations on gun sales at firearm shows and other restrictions. Mr. McCain praised the decision today, and used it to renew criticis...

Re: stererotyping

I agree. I'm not a trauma surgeon, but I did spend 6 years working the PM shift in the ER of a level 1 trauma center in the Los Angeles area. My anti-gun opinions were largely informed by both my work environment, and by my upbringing by parents who were extremely liberal Caltech professors. It took...

Yep, the press doesn't want to talk about the beating one of their pet beliefs is about to receive over the next few months.

Ahhhhhhhhhh.... The schadenfreude is almost irresistable!

I'd be more in favor of sending in the Air Force to carpet bomb it.

Re: Heller LiveBlog on ScotusBlog

BTW, HebM, I would rather that there be no NICS. It's just that I can live with it, and I can concede the need in principle of having a way to prevent (in so far as that is possible) the purchase of firearms by dangerous people.

Re: Heller LiveBlog on ScotusBlog

“I’m disappointed in the Court’s ruling and believe introducing more handguns into the District will mean more handgun violence, said Mayor Fenty. “But I want to emphasize that at this moment, our gun laws remain in effect . It may be several weeks before there are changes to announce. I...

Re: Heller LiveBlog on ScotusBlog

I don't have a problem with NICS, because I agree that there must be a system in place to disqualify certain individuals from firearms purchases - but those disqualifications can only legitimately be argued on the basis of mental health/competence, and/or a record of non-expunged felony convictions...

Re: Heller LiveBlog on ScotusBlog

Here are the Heller pluses: The 2nd Amendment is an individual right. The majority opinion restricted itself to the issue immediately before it, and restrained itself from judicial activism. Here are the Heller minuses: Government may continue to, or begin to if it isn't doing so already, require re...

Re: Heller LiveBlog on ScotusBlog

I expect D.C. will come up with a whole list of restrictions though. Revolvers only, etc... The mayor of DC issued a statement about .30 minutes ago saying that "semi-automatic and automatic" handguns are still illegal in DC. That would seem to imply that only revolvers will be permitted. I hope th...

Re: Heller LiveBlog on ScotusBlog

I actually support licensing. It gives everyone a central point to clear checks and make sure you are actually legally allowed to carry. That being said, licensing should be given on a shall-issue basis and I believe that there should be some relief provided for the indigent. You support licensing ...
