Re: School Safety Certification Instructor Training Class

For those of you who have attended class in the past few months (October 2018 - January 2019), are your class sizes like 12-15 students or more like 40 or so?

I heard from the Trooper Trainers that they were talking about creating larger class sizes and I want to see if that is happening. Thanks.

Re: HB 357 - Unlicensed Carry (Stickland)

What about LEO and Special Investigators (Feds) who are not currently subject to those sections... Yes, there is no exception for anyone in the proposed 30.06 and 30.07. This will get all of the police organizations to oppose it very quickly. Whether we like that part or not, we need their cooperat...

Re: New Instructor Training Questions

By the way, received my certificate in the mail on December 13th, so that is 6 days from the completion of the DPS class, 2 days of which were a weekend. I was pretty surprised that the State Government got anything sent out that quickly.

Re: New Instructor Training Questions

Completed the class yesterday, some after-action thoughts: I was at this with you. Another note. The weather became a factor in the class schedule. I would say remain flexible and make sure you have everything you need when you get down there, to include all of the ammo. I will say. I got home and ...

Re: HB 497 - Add Types and Uses of Ammunition to Required LTC Course Curriculum

After the School Marshal fiasco, they probably want LTC Instructors extolling the virtues of frangible ammo above and beyond any other types.

But really, telling people to carry hollow points over FMJ for self defense would be a good thing.

Re: New Instructor Training Questions

Completed the class yesterday, some after-action thoughts: The DPS Trainers are some great guys, and one gal. The facility is top notch, and I would love some time on the driving track... but that is a different animal. The PowerPoint from the RSD is ATTROCIOUS! Covering 46.035(b) including (b)(4)(5...

Re: Star Telegram poll on Constitutional Carry - go vote

I swear that last time there was a bill that created 30.08 and 30.09 for Unlicensed carry... so that some store owners who are nutjobs would have to take up all of their storefront space with ugly signs. I really liked that. Whatever we do, we need to change the wording of 30.06 and .07 again to mak...

Re: New Instructor Training Questions

One more question: do they hand you a certificate at the end of the training? Mail you a certificate or some sort of Trainer ID Card?

Re: A test for Anti-concealed carry

Psychological Projection is the most common psychological phenomenon in humans. Nearly every anti-gunner that I have ever know and had some sort of relationship with who says something about non-LEO carrying and either "snapping" or just shooting someone for no reason, that individual has had a temp...

Re: HB 357 - Unlicensed Carry (Stickland)

That is quite the bill.... Sheesh there is a lot of distributed code. Looks like it makes constitutional carry apply to all, and makes 30.06 and 30.07 only apply to 'unlicensed persons'. It would likely only make it through with additional provisions for what a license holder can and cannot do- but...

Re: Well... there goes Constitutional Carry

Blew a potential 21-10 margin in the Texas Senate for 2019 with at least Burton and Huffines losing to democrats. So that is 19-12 - exactly enough for the 3/5 required to pass a bill... but wait, Sen. Huffman is extremely weak on the 2A. Don't think so? Question: Why can't you open carry on a coll...

Become volunteer emergency services personnel.
I’m already a part owner of a Security Company and am always on duty, so only subject to 46.03 myself.

Re: School Safety Certification Instructor Training Class

For those of you in upcoming School Safety Instructor classes, when did you apply? I saw somewhere that 12-18 months was not unheard of... yikes!
