Re: Strange experience in a big-box store

Aren't loss prevention people supposed to be doing their monitoring of shoplifters on CCTV?

Then once they have the theft on video, they approach the perps on the floor?

Re: Votes not in but Dems all claim victory

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzSg_eY3GV0 Here's a 50 second video of an Iowa coin toss. This guy flips the coin, and handles it repeatedly until he gets the desired result. No one looks at the coin but him, then takes him at his word. He is not magician smooth. It was not slick at all. This was ...

Re: DFW North/NorthEast Quadrant Breakfast

This Saturday, 2/8/20, I will not be attending the Frisco breakfast. I will be attending a church security conference in Olney, Texas (way west of Fort Worth) from 830 AM - 100 PM. Then I will hotfoot it over to Fort Worth to attend Tarrant County Sheriff Waybourn's (sp?) event. That starts at 200 P...

Re: When America understood warship building

Although many Americans consider Russia a serious foe, they do not have the ability to project much power worldwide. This is because their lone carrier, the "Admiral Kuznetsov" (sp?) has troublesome reliability, no catapault, and a "jump" deck. This jump deck decreases the amount of fuel and bombs t...

Re: Road report: 2013 Mazda CX-5, Skyactiv, 6 speed manual.

Well, this thread brings back old, fond memories. It was a blast from the past to read all I had written here. Sad update on my beloved CX-5: I took delivery of it on 7/24/12. It was totalled on 9/25/15. So, I had it 38 months. On the day it got wrecked I had 120,685 miles on it. This vehicle was th...

Re: IN: CHL wrestling with 4 year old son ND shoots both in head, son dies

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2020/01/26/indiana-boy-shot-while-wrestling-his-dad-has-died/4581092002/ I googled around to find more information on this story. The link above details that the pistol was a Glock, model unknown, and the man was carrying in his pants. An earlier report I ...

strogg: You and I have talked on multiple occasions about your flight from Cali, but on this thread you have recounted your journey in full detail. Kind of surprising from such a quiet guy, who primarily is a good listener at all our 3 DFW breakfasts, but a chatterbox in the car! :-) My own arrival ...

Re: Kaufman County TX, 1-23-20: 18 seized firearms for sale.

Yes, I would say the time spent was worth it. We had no idea how the event was to unfold, so attending was somewhat akin to open a gift-wrapped package. Everything was going to be an unforeseen surprise. Should some other LEO agency hold an auction, I might go to that one too, just to see who in the...

Re: Kaufman County TX, 1-23-20: 18 seized firearms for sale.

So, yesterday was the auction. Strogg and I carpooled out there together from Denton County. The other day the deputy I spoke with said "no guns or ammo" will be allowed. We figured knives would also be forbidden. So we leave all our handguns and knives in the truck. We get to the security checkpoin...

Re: Kaufman County TX, 1-23-20: 18 seized firearms for sale.

Today I spoke with a deputy at KCSO. The firearm auction is to be held in a court room that is used for family issues. If those proceedings are done early enough, the firearms should be displayed about 400 PM, one hour before the start of the auction at 500 PM. YMMV. The guns should be displayed for...

Re: DFW Way Out West Breakfast

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend, due to double church meetings. One I could have skipped. The other one is the 3rd Monday of every month, which was the MLK holiday this week. Meeting was not held. Saturday was chosen as the makeup day. I HAVE TO attend this one. Have a nice breakfast gen...

Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast

Well, we had a good turnout at this morning's Arlington breakfast. 10 adults, 2 teenagers, + 1 baby boy = 13. In attendance was blackhorse1, Mrs. blackhorse1, Mr. and Mrs. "friends of the blackhorses", their 2 children, diesel42, grayling813, Mrs. grayling813, SigM4, Baby Boy SigM4, SIA, and strogg....
