Re: Church Carry - Reciprocity Question

Here's a cool little piece of trivia that y'all may or may not know. In "King of the Hill" the town they live in is Arlen, a city/suburban area of Texas, not a West Texas kind of town. Mike Judge, the creator of the show, lived in both Garland and Richardson, Texas. Arlen is his joking way of refere...

Here's some proof that you don't always need a .45 to get the job done!

Re: Safety tips for women's defense (work for guys too)

During a kidnapping incident, the time when things are most "up for grabs" is at the beginning of the incident. Resist the bad guy's attempt to tighten his control over you. The bad guy is trying to get you under his control. Fight, fight, fight from the beginning. Do the most un-ladylike things you...

Re: 7 sheep(ets) waking

To TxDrifter, Hey, stay on your woman to follow through and get her CHL. She has the tool to protect herself (her .380) and she's gaining the skills to use it, so the next logical step is to have her get the CHL. You won't always be there with her with your gun when a 'situation' occurs. "Don't mess...

Re: Springfield XD-9 vs XD-9 Subcompact

To dleewo: You might want to give Bullet Trap a call. They are at 2608 Avenue K in Plano. 972-881-0372. I was in there yesterday for the first time. They have a large selection of both new and pre-owned weapons. They had a bunch of XD's but I'm not sure if they have the 9's you are interested in. Th...

Re: 1911 Model - What is a good one to start out with?

To Tallinthesaddle: I believe your geography would not work for this sale but Bass Pro Shops, until April 5, 2009, has brand new Taurus 1911B's on sale for $629.99. This one has Heinie "Straight Eight" sights and some other identification number in the ad is "1194354". I don't know if this is a Taur...

Re: Academy ammo sales

Maybe it's just the luck of the draw, but each time I go to the
Academy in Lewisville they seem to have plenty of ammo.
Last time I needed some 9MM I had the pick of many styles.

Re: looking for first 1911

To Liberty: Thanks for your response. To clarify my original post, there is no way that I was saying that a Ruger P89 is a 1911 type. I was just trying to say that the slim grip of a P89 seems similar to what I perceive is the slim appealing grip of a 1911. Somewhere on the forum here, I believe I r...

Re: Bumper stickers

Mr. Massad Ayoob, noted gun expert, author, marksman, and expert witness for the defense, has stated that putting any stickers on your vehicles relating to guns is a bad idea. I agree. 1. If you get in a road rage incident or accident with another person, they may see your "NRA" sticker and later cl...

Re: looking for first 1911

Since this thread is pretty small so far, I would like to pose some questions to you 1911 fans: Q1. To be called a "1911" does the gun have to be designed exactly like the original JMB models? Q2. Does it always have to be a .45? Q3. Does the type of action have to match the original JMB models? Q4....

"Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas...." Willie Nelson. Luckenbach is close to Fredericksburg so go see it. The town came into existence so its owner would have a place to drink. As far as I know, there is no "center" to the town. There are several buildings scattered about a grove. There is a music buil...

Re: Green Texas Flag; what is it?

I believe that the flag you see is the "University of North Texas" version of the real Texas flag.

UNT is the home of the "Mean Green".

Since you are in Denton, home of UNT, you will probable see a lot more of these since you have now
noticed one.

Re: CHLer shootout with burger king robber

Part paraphrase, part cut and paste from the Miami Herald.com article: Police identify robber, customer in deadly Burger King shooting The good guy in this was John Landers, 45. The bad guy was Johnny Jean-Baptiste, 18. The robber came in wearing a ski mask and pointed his tiny Bryco .380 <what the ...
