Nueces County appraisal district has a metal detector. They’ll let you in but the guard has to escort you throughout your whole visit there. Ridiculous. I’m thinking that this year I’ll conduct my business then stop at the John on the way out. Might have a stomach ache too...

Re: If Ed Sheeran comes to your church...

Ed Sheeran's name would've had no relevance for me if I hadn't watched "Yesterday" a couple of days prior to your post. I only know he's a singer that is quite popular in England. Who would've thought someone in Ohio could pull off a scam such as this.

Re: Called out by security at appraisal district.

I think the OP did the right thing. Even though the person asking was not an LEO telling him to bug off, even if done diplomatically gains nothing, except maybe escalating his concern. Quietly cooperating and keeping things at the lowest level presented a positive picture for us as LTC's.

Re: Winchester Gun Safe not working

well, the UPS man showed up yesterday with my new keypad, unhook and reconnect and we are back in business!! Also, i tried about 5 or 6 9v batteries to make sure that wasn't my issue. Sidenote: still no answer at the given #'s for Winchester, followed their instructions and they never returned my e...

Since I moved to Texas from Chicago, I cannot vote Chicago style, early and often.

Re: Ballistol--Yellowish Paste?

I have never used this Ballistol, but this is from their website: If you are using a trigger sprayer attached to the non-aerosol Ballistol can, remove after use and return the original cap. Ballistol can leak from the trigger sprayer, and will be exposed to air. Ballistol has an indefinite shelf-li...

Re: Carry pistol failure

We used to tell the new Chemical engineers at the refinery when a heat exchanger leaked that it was caused by iron boring beetles. Looks like an iron borer got to your revolver. :biggrinjester: BTW I agree with the poster to keep your finger off the trigger while loaded unless you are safely shootin...

Re: Strange experience in a big-box store

Aren't loss prevention people supposed to be doing their monitoring of shoplifters on CCTV? Then once they have the theft on video, they approach the perps on the floor? SIA CCTV can't always catch the perps. In this case he was noticed, but apparently not by the person he was surveiling until he w...

Re: Strange experience in a big-box store

I had him pegged as loss prevention almost immediately in your story. I worked in retail and was very familiar with the tactics you described. Yes, the end of shelving gondolas are call end caps; sometimes end tips. Just doing his job.

Re: State of the union 2020

There is a new internet thing out there. “Send Nancy a New Copy” Gives her two addresses and a link where to get a copy of the speech. Ha! I had the same idea. Once again, I wasn't very original, but I think I might do it. Tearing up a state of the union speech, a thing mandated in the Constitution...

Re: State of the union 2020

Did anyone else notice Nancy Pelosi's crystal bar set as opposed to Mike Pence's simple glass of water? Very interesting why there appears to be three decanters. Wonder what they might contain.
