I'm so jazzed!

Just found out my stepson took the CHL today. I've been trying to get him to do it for some time. He finally DID!

Even slightly beat me on the shooting test (the dog!) We tied on the written...

If we get the licenses close enough together, we could do the Wally-Walk together!

Re: Pepper Spray an Illegal Weapon?

So, then when asked if you've ever been arrested, people should respond 'yes' if they've ever received a traffic ticket? Many job applicants would never get beyond that point. Seems getting arrested is a LOT easier than I thought!

Re: Pepper Spray an Illegal Weapon?

The arrest was made when the cop stopped the person from leaving the scene. Hmmm, In a 'normal' traffic stop, like for issuing a speeding ticket, is that an arrest? I thought you were considered "detained", as you were not allowed to leave (if you do, expect to see an aerial view of your moving veh...

Re: Pepper Spray an Illegal Weapon?

I think it was DPS that told us the larger "fire extinguisher" size used for crowd control is the one illegal for civilians. As well as the O.C. grenades. If your not in the military and subject to the UCMJ, you are a civilian. If you recall recently, the Ft Hood reports went to great lengths to di...

Re: Pepper Spray an Illegal Weapon?

"Law enforcement strength" is a sales slogan, not a legal restriction. That would have been my 'assumption' too. Apparently the cop, however, believed otherwise. And the Chief (?) tried to explain that the law wasn't clear, as it said something about it being illegal unless it was in a "small chemi...

Um, what makes you think that's the same thing? It doesn't look the same, and (as near as I can tell) doesn't say "Law Enforcement Strength"?

(There must be a joke here about "Bears hunting bears"!)

Re: What does it take to open a Range

Um, so if you have an 11-acre range in the county, and the nearby town expands and annexes your property, you are now subject to regulation and they could shut you down? My assumption was that you'd want a plot of land large enough to eliminate being hassled. (Well, any more than necessary, anyway.)

Re: What does it take to open a Range

Keep in mind that Texas gives counties the right to restrict shooting on tracts less than 10 acres. Some do, some don't. Check your county's ordinances. Actually, it's 50 acres for rifles and pistols. The 10 acres is for shotguns, air rifle, BB gun and bow and arrows. Marksweil/Garcia946: Got any l...

Re: PIN #

Actually, not only did I get the pin by email today, but my wife brought home the snail-mail version today, too. So it only took from the 19th to the 28th for them to receive the app, and process it to the point of issuing a PIN. She was so proud -- thought she was bringing me my LICENSE! Had to let...
