Re: OC Has Gun Taken Away
Open carrying is pretty much the dumbest thing possible in public environments where you don't know the people around you. You are telegraphing exactly how you're armed and where your firearm is at. I fully support the change in laws that support open carry, but doesn't change the fact that if you'r...

Re: CC/OC in city park at ticketed event
I dare you to open carry... :biggrinjester: No thanks. There's a non-trivial contingent of APD officers that are just aching to "make and example" of an open carrier (I would not doubt that the mayor would give them a bonus in their paycheck, regardless of the legality of their actions, a...

Resurrecting this thread. Just left the Austin Trail of Lights. Now they have an (illegal) 30.06 sign posted at the entrance. Who wants to (pointlessly) tell the city they’re not permitted?

Re: Crypto-currencies
On the other hand, the basis of BTC is pretty strong, not so much on what it's backed by, but the fact that it's getting harder and harder to make more of it. Isn't that true of every crypto currency based on block chain? Even if the concept has a long term future, maybe BTC is the next Betamax or ...

Re: Crypto-currencies
Yeah, no way - I've only put in an amount I already had (not borrowing) that I'm willing to lose. I did the same. I have investments in BTC and ETH, both of which are nearing 2x my initial investment (I will politely decline to discuss the bitcoinS I sold a few years ago when I thought it was reall...

Re: Fed to seize guns from people who failed background checks
I do not see this as a gun grab but normal business as usual. I agree. Most of you know I ran an FFL biz for many years (and I'm grateful for mrvmax for his sage advice when I first started it!). In those seven or so years, I had two firearms that were in delay mode, then went "Denied" AF...

Re: Glock 41 (45ACP), 4 extra mags $660
It's a sweet pistol. I bought it thinking I would use it for the "Heavy" class in 3 Gun. Put a couple mags through it at Red's and then it went into the safe. Really like it, but the reality is that I have almost zero time anymore to even go to the range, much less 3-Gun matches. Since the...

Re: Bottom Handguns!
I do not understand why Hi-Point makes these lists. Some you list will blow up in your hand, the Hi-Point is just ugly as sin. In my experience I would much rather have a Hi-Point than any semi auto Taurus makes. Ugly pistols are better than single shot pistols. A lot of people wave off these kind ...

Re: D.C.: Al Franken resigns - he made me laugh for the first time.
I don't think that plays well for the dems. My guess, he stays either way. If a Dem wins, there's no election focus and he can simply decide he's not running for reelection, if GOP wins, they claim moral high ground. Gambit here is Moore wins and then resigns to a GOP appointee. In the end, politici...

Re: In Houston: can someone convert a portion of their garage as a PRIVATE indoor shooting lane?
There was an old story I saw some time back about a big warehouse near Downtown Houston. The owner was into bench rest shooting and he had several hundred yards of indoor space to shoot with no wind. I think even at night, they had to be careful as cops might come by about the noise. I think it was...

I can personally think of several reasons why you should NOT even consider this, even if it was legal.
I'll leave the reasons as an exercise to the readers, but...boy, I set the "thinking bar" really low and came up with about five reasons in as many seconds.

Re: BEWARE of Scams From Armslist
The saddest part of all this: These scammers are often successful. A non-trivial percentage of the population still falls for this. So long as it works, the scammers will keep trying.
