Re: Smart Home

Hello.on the topic of security cameras. I have owned a Lorex system. It was okay. But cameras failed, 5 in 3 years. I trashed the entire system and went to UniView IP cameras and a UniView hybrid NVR. (Can use BNC or IP cameras). Picture quality and ease of use were the selling point me. Thanks for...

Re: Smart Home

That's the reason to have my Server set up locally. So my house is still a smart house, who can't phone a friend.

Lots of these smart homes are great, until the internet goes down. Lots of them are phoning a friend to gossip. I'm cutting that cord.

Smart Home

I know this is way off topic... But I'm working on making the new place a smart home as we remodel. I'm curious if any others in here have done this. I've hit some bumps in the road, but so far I've worked around most of them. My goal is to have it completely local. I don't like the idea of my house...

Re: Ice Storm 2022

Clear and sunny here near Comfort, but still cold, with a BITTERLY cold wind, the kind that bites into your face like razor blades. Little white patches of yesterday's sleet in the shady areas. Pipes tried to freeze this morning here in Comfort. Still have a bit of work to do in insulating better i...

Re: No place but Minneapolis

I really don't care what the media does, or says. What really makes me nervous is some people think it's OK for a government agent to use deadly force on an unarmed suspect who is resisting arrest. If that's where we we are, it's not that far a leap to execute drivers for traffic violations. I can ...

Re: Kenosha Wisconsin Shooter discussion

I suggest that the most expedient option is for Wisconsin to vote out their Governor... Kenosha to vote out their DA... and the Federal Government to defund the FBI. This is where you and I see it differently. That time has passed. The very government that is exercising tyranny over the people, hav...

Re: San Antonio and Austin area meeting

Hard to think of a place that's accessible for everybody. I'm out here near Comfort, about 30 miles NW of San Antonio, so just about anywhere is going to be a drive for me. Anything closer to me is going to be a drive for anybody else. As far as carrying, I really like the idea of everybody OC'ing,...

Re: Kenosha Wisconsin Shooter discussion

Someone claiming to be a producer from MSNBC was following the jury bus last night.
MSNBC banned from the building now.

Re: Larry Vickers' firearms seized by ATF

Long list. So many unknown machine guns. And all of them have a value of $1,000 and homemade silencers for $1. I would take a transferable machine gun for 1,000. Edit: Looking at the list it has none of his many handguns. Is this something that gets published if someone looses/relinquishes their FF...

Re: I think the forum is dying

It's a lull - people can't easily or cheaply get guns/ammo/components (to varying degrees), so they turn to other things for a while. That's pretty much where I have been. The precious little free time I have these days isn't spent with firearms or shooting because it's become beyond frustrating. I...

Re: The New LTC Test - needs a redo

Amazing isn't it. Believe that RSD is checking the block just to have a written test. In the years that I have been teaching with various versions of tests, after completing the class, I have had exactly ONE student not pass on the first attempt. That student was not only a non-English native speak...
