Re: University of Houston - Releases Draft Campus Carry Policy
Just because they don't like a law doesn't mean they get to ignore it. Why not? The President has been ignoring laws he doesn't like for more than seven years. They're just following his example. In this case, I sincerely hope the legislature doesn't follow the example of the Congress by letting th...

What would happen if you remove the wristband? There's no law that would require you to continue to wear it.

Re: Concealed carry in FRANCE?
Just returned from a vacation in Paris and Barcelona and, no, there's no civilian concealed carry in France. i searched what seemed to be the whole interweb and found nothing to even suggest it would be possible. Didn't seem to need it, though, because there were soldiers EVERYWHERE. We saw a lot of...

Re: Using your CHL effectively
Let's think - what does a CHL (or now, LTC) say about us, beyond the fact that we may be armed? We're not felons. No felony convictions, lifetime. We've not been convicted of a Class A or B misdemeanor for the time we've had our licenses plus 5 years. We've not been convicted of criminal mischief ri...

Re: Arrested for wearing fatigues
I just gotta say... I spent one heck of a lotta time running around the UTA campus wearing fatigues and carrying guns, back in the 1970s. (ROTC, Sam Houston Rifles drill team, etc.). Nobody even looked at us askance. How things have changed.

Re: "Common Areas" of Home Owner's Associations
My solution: DON'T ever live in a place managed by an HOA. No American / Texas / US Army / San Jacinto flags, no outdoor charcoal grills or smokers, no loud Radio Margaritaville in the driveway, NO FUN! That's all I need, another level of 'government' telling me what I can and can't do. Folks who li...

Re: a CHL does not mean you're Clint Eastwood
Anyone with any knowledge of firearms will know that a glock, or any undamaged pistol, will not discharge while being drawn unless the trigger is squeezed or pulled by something caught in the trigger. I have two Beretta pistols, neither of which will discharge while holstering even if the trigger i...

Re: Parsing the Campus Carry Act
Are the provisions decided by each university going to have the force of law, or will they be merely school policy? In other words, can I as a non-student CHL holder be arrested for carrying in a properly posted campus building, or just be asked to leave if my weapon is somehow discovered? I don't s...

Re: HB2269 Related to Unlawful Firearm Seizure by Feds
What are the damages? There is no downside to removing a firearm? Well, the best reason not to remove it would be you're leaving the person defenseless. I can see a potential law suit. Scenario: Man was pulled over and ticketed for a broken tail light. Officer took his legally carried firearm witho...
