Re: TX: one dead at shooting during police protest in downtown Austin tonight
Are any news organizations providing full courtroom coverage on this trial? I would really like to see the entire trial, including the deliberations at the bench between the prosecution & defense that are excluded from the jury. In both the Kyle Rittenhouse & Derek Chauvin trials it was easy...

Cold Bore Tactical training videos on YouTube
It's been a discovery-learning process, but I'm getting the hang of creating educational videos & posting publicly for free onto YouTube. The initial intent was to provide a resource for my students to review as they continued to practice the techniques they had just learned in class. Rather tha...

Re: Armed robbery scenario
That would then fall under PC Chapter 9, Subchapter C, "Protection of Persons." But "Protection of Property" in Subchapter D is a different animal. For the scenario, to me, PC §9.42 is fairly clear the requirement is that one reasonably believes the use of deadly force is immedi...

Re: Harrasment by DPS??
Brad, This is not intended to be a poke. Since text doesn't convey inflection of voice & such, I wanted to prequel with that. I also understand your frustrations that after a decade the DPS is asking for something that, when you initially disclosed it on your initial application, was deemed as n...

https://news.yahoo.com/federal-judge-allows-lawsuit-against-234038240.html Federal judge allows lawsuit against officers to proceed. Conspired with Kyle to harm protestors. Probably up there it will do well as they are all woke. They served his sister, judge seemed to think that made it ok. Kyle is...

According to this report, it was a MAC-10 with a home made suppressor. Not so clear security camera footage is at the 07:25 time stamp. https://youtu.be/TtlQbzhStXk ((Anderson Cooper's interview with the 26-year old who disarmed the nut when he went to the second ballroom)). As an aside, it may have...

Re: Time to modernize qual - allow Red Dots
The Trooper that was the lead instructor for the First Responder Instructor Course said that they are now allowed (made a comment such as "bringing the material up to the 21st Century" or something like that). The use of lasers or scopes are still prohibited for use during qualification as...

Re: When should I get notification
I just scrolled through my emails from years past, & it seems the trend is somewhere between June to August the RSD will send out the Instructor Renewal emails.
The actual renewal classes usually don't start until around September, when the new laws generally take effect.

Re: Issue with shoot through screen
Regarding the deviation in trajectory: I believe there was an article about 10 years ago in a professional journal that asserted there was about a 1 MOA deviation when shooting a rifle thru a window screen. When we had our sniper students engaging targets thru screens & ringing steel targets bet...

Yup, it was brutal yesterday when the wind blew in. Finished up a three day class yesterday that culminated with multiple shoot / no-shoot scenarios with the student moving between cover. Felt the temperature drop from around 60* to mid-30*'s almost instantly around noon-thirty, then the wind starte...
