Re: Pocket Gun Debate: LC9 or Curve
If there is ever a choice between anything else and something from Taurus... the answer is almost always going to be whatever is NOT from Taurus. Please do share your awful experiences with Taurus. Or are you just joining the blind bandwagon for hating on them? 'Hate' is a bit harsh for my view on ...

Re: Need advice/info for debt collector calls.
Thank you everyone for the help and advice. I had no idea of the technology available to spoof ID. My wife is going to contact both the AG and any federal agency that is appropriate to make complaints. I'll try to answer some of the questions s I recall them. Not necessarily in order. Evergreen Acq...

Re: Whataburger refused service to police officers
Recently, an Arby's employee refused to serve a police officer. The manager was fired and t he employee was suspended indefinitely. Why the clown wasn't fire is a mystery to me. The police officer is a white woman and the clown is black. I don't blame Arby's (though at first I did) for the actions ...

Re: Need advice/info for debt collector calls.
I'll try to make this as brief as possible. My wife received a call on her cell phone while we were driving to New Braunfels last week. The caller ID indicated it was from our residence. Thinking it may be my brother who comes by to feed the dogs and pick up mail she answered and was surprised by a...

Re: CHL follow up question
I mailed my class form, bar code email and finger print form. I used snail mail. I did the application online and I did finger prints digitally. If you still have a copy of your CHL-100 I would suggest scanning it into a PDF file & uploading it onto the DPS' website (look for the 'Contact Us' l...

Re: Help on CHL -8 Completion
Need a little help on proper completion of a CHL-8. In the past I have had folks fail the shooting proficiency, but pass on the second attempt - same day. That CHL-8 was easy. Yesterday I had a lady fail and elected not to do another attempt the same day. She had run a sewing machine needle through...

Re: Chl instructor course 8/8-10
I just got home from this last course a few minutes ago. There were 109 students in this class. Probably 8 or 10 women in the class. The main facility is brand new, nice, and big. Classroom was quite easy but different from classes before in that RSD has "given" the troopers the entire cl...

Re: "Combat Scoring" for Cert of Proficiency
For the timed reload event I combined the 2 rnds in 4 seconds & the 3 rnds in 6 seconds events at the 7 yd line, with a reload in the middle (ie, engage with 2 rnds, reload, engage with 3 rnds, within 10 seconds). The remaining qual remained the same as for the standard CHL course of fire, with ...

Re: Bexar County deputies shoot man during disturbance call
Talltex, 1. The investigation of the officer involved shooting is the legal process I'm referring to. Their focus is on a fair & impartial investigation, not media ratings or our curiosity. I'd like to see & hear the audio of the second video, in which reportedly the DPS analysts confirms th...

http://www.kens5.com/story/news/2015/09/08/bcso-handing-over-officer-involved-shooting-to-das-office/71901610/ There's a second video recorded by a neighbor of the deceased that shows a knife in his hand. This video will not be released to the public until the legal process is complete. According to...

Re: Instructor renewal
It will indeed be an online renewal process this year. Log in to the DPS' website to pay your renewal fee, & submit your CHL-90 either via email, fax, or uploading similar to your CHL-8's. If your NRA or other instructor certificate on file with them is still current, no other action is required.

"It's actually not easy to find anything definitive, but from everything I've read, a felon handling or shooting a gun is considered to be in "constructive" possession." Actually, a felon handling or shooting a gun is in 'Possession'; the two prong test for Constructive Possessio...

Possible scam targeting firearms Instructors
Just a heads up that I received a text message yesterday from a 315- area code (Google's as Madrid, NY) mostly vague & in broken English, asking if I 'render Firearms instruction', & if I take payment by credit cards. Claimed to be Christopher Bruno, who Google's as a Prosecutor in NY. (Yes,...
