Re: Are Humans Animals?
Well, when classifying organisms, humans are in the kingdom "Animalia". That would seem to say that humans are 'animals'. A little clarification from Wikipedia: The word "animal" comes from the Latin word animal (meaning with soul, from anima, soul). In everyday colloquial usage,...

Re: Number of Guns in Trunk?
Well, there's no limit to how many you can carry concealed on your person (with a CHL); so, it would seem logical to me that there'd be no limit to how many you have in your trunk.

Well, seems as though they caught the little miscreants:

Re: Questions asked by LEO for a ticket
VERY simply, you can be as forthcoming or as stingy as you like with your personal information. The ONLY required info you 'must' provide (in Texas) is your name, address, and date of birth. And, that's only AFTER you've been arrested (Texas Penal Code 38.02). Any time I've been stopped/ticketed (wh...

Re: IDPA in Conroe this Saturday
Conroe is a little far for me to drive (~4 hours). I have never competed in, or even been to, an IDPA match. I'd really like to try it out! I live in Austin, and from what I can tell, they're held every weekend at alternating ranges (northeast of Austin, and southwest). Anyone here frequent these ID...

...but some people have not been able to get their pinky wrapped around the grip... Is it even possible to get your pinky finger on the grip of a 27? :headscratch My daily carry is a 23 (compact .40), and my pinky hangs halfway off the butt of the grip (with standard mag). But, I've installed a Pea...

Gov. Rick Perry hosts shooting party
Last Thursday, I went to Red's Indoor Range (south Austin) to shoot a few practice rounds with my Glock 23. When I pulled up, there were lots of people standing around outside, and the parking lot was full. I just thought someone was having a birthday shooting party or something. Well, when I got to...

Re: Checking on a Neighbor, Legal to Carry?
Yea, you don't wanna be runnin' 'round the neighborhood with your gun and no CHL, just to check things out. Yesterday, I was doing yard work in my front lawn while carrying IWB concealed (no CHL yet, still waiting), when I saw big billows of smoke coming from a neighbor's house/back yard. It looked ...

Re: Advice for a "Green Card" Holder
>No longer need to be a TX resident for >90 days That is true for a CHL, but it still applies for firearms purchases through an FFL. This is an odd concept, because under 411.172, one of the eligibility requirements for getting a Texas CHL is: (9) is fully qualified under applicable federal and sta...

Re: Airplane carry
I carry on private planes all the time but getting permission from the pilot in command is easy since that's me. ... Same here. I just have to ask myself if I can carry on board. 'Course that's usually just toolin' around Texas in a six-seater. I couldn't tell you much about how things work on the ...

Re: my chl class, is this normal?
Well, I'm sorry for any of you who had a bad experience with your CHL classes. Nothing sucks more than to have to sit through some sort of class that blows! I'm glad to say, however, that I thought my class was VERY well done! Organized, easy to follow, informative, and humorous -- all while coverin...
