Re: What we have been saying.....
John has a long mustache. Simple single use codes for important stuff. My freshman college roommate and I were friends with a guy who was still a high school senior. We were at UT Austin, and we knew he was about to come to town. We wanted to let him know how to contact us, so (revealing how long a...

Re: Reciprocity in D.C.?
Reciprocity would be pretty useless to Congressmen and their staffers if they didn't also have an exemption to 18 USC 930 which covers Federal buildings. On a more serious note, if something like this doesn't get the rules for federal buildings changed, what will? I'm not suggesting a beneficial ch...

Part of me would like to see one or more of them burned on that. It's within their power to change.ScottDLS wrote:Reciprocity would be pretty useless to Congressmen and their staffers if they didn't also have an exemption to 18 USC 930 which covers Federal buildings.

Re: Interesting Psychology: Open Carry & The Weapons Effect
I don't open carry, but I am deeply skeptical of almost all social (so-called) science. Much of it is just Lefty talking points gussied up in obscure language.

Re: 51% sign and not TABC licensed
If the business in fact has a current TABC license, whether BLUE or RED, it has to be in the TABC system. The problem is often difficulty with doing a search. The license is usually not under the name of the establishment, but often the holding company or family name. And doing a text search is pro...

Reciprocity in D.C.?
Rep.Thomas Massie (R. KY) has filed a bill that would extend reciprocity for HLs issued by the various states. The proposal is, of course, motivated by the recent Arlington shooting.

Re: 1942 Teacher Parking Lot Law
Looks like we lost this battle. Are we sure? It looks like the Senate concurred on the amendments and it's labeled as passed both houses... not sure if that's quite far enough along to be sent to the Governor, but I sure hope so! I just checked the legislature's website. The bill looks dead to me.

Re: Movie theater scenario, any tips?
Or just invest in an 83 inch 4k TV with 7.2 surround sound and stadium seating. For me $10000 is worth it when it comes to protecting my life yet still getting the theatre experience. I settle for a less dramatic movie experience and watch them on my 26-inch set, which is as big as will fit in the ...

Re: No state guns
Well considering that the 1847 Colt Walker is not considered a Handgun per Texas Penal Code... None other than Ralph Waldo Emerson observed that a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds. :rolll Of course, he never explained how to identify foolish consistencies. I can only surmise tha...

Re: Updated Texas3006.com entry statistics
I could not find comprehensive statistics on new business creation in Texas, but in the second quarter of 2014, 14,990 new businesses started up. https://www.sba.gov/sites/default/files/advocacy/Texas.pdf Let's say that was an exceptional quarter (I have no idea one way or the other) and that the av...

Re: Frustration at 30.06 signage
Today I busted the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas. The location is properly posted with both 30.06 and 30.07 signage which it clearly states on their website; however, there is nobody checking bags, no metal detectors, no security measures of any tangible nature to ensure the safety o...

That's the thing. I got the email yesterday evening after 8:00. I think it was blowing smoke.Bladed wrote:How old was the email? HB 1911 and HB 375 have been dead for a couple of weeks, and SB 16 passed.

Bills Still Alive as of the evening of 5/23
I got an email from the SREC reporting on legislative deadlines and certain bills. The following gun-related bills are said still to be a priority. But they don't say the ones in House Calendars have a realistic chance. The email seems to be a way to make us think they're on top of things. SB 16 Nic...

Re: California Lege Considering Traffic Fine Based On Income
Will this be based on earned income (so most people will need only show a W-2) or will it include investment income? In the latter case, you'll need to show your entire federal income-tax return just to find out the amount of your traffic fine. Privacy, schmivacy.
