My favorite "Hombre" quote is "How are you planning to get back down that hill?"

411 Sign

The Walmart in Hallettsville has an odd sign. It merely prohibits weapons possession by persons without a license. That's no big deal as to handguns, but "weapon" is not synonymous with "handgun." There's the ambiguity with whether any given knife is a weapon or a tool. https://s...

Re: 2017 Legislative Priorities

Regarding local governments, clarify areas from which license holders may lawfully be excluded. The City of San Antonio's response, and no doubt that of others, is to designate most of their buildings "private" and allow carry of any sort only in the lobbies. I don't think that's in the sp...

Finck's Cigar, San Antonio

Finck's Cigar on Broadway has a non-compliant sign. I don't know about their other two locations, but I would bet they're the same.

Is "expuncted" a proper legal term?
The term is "expunged."

Re: Critics blast Massachusetts city's new 'essay' rule for gun-carry applicants

This smacks of the abuses of the Jim Crow South. In the bad old days, in some places African-Americans were required to pass a civics test before being allowed to register to vote. The graders always had enough discretion to flunk everyone.

Re: Congresswoman Kay Granger was added in the city of Fort Worth. The type of restriction is: 30.06 & 30.07 Sign

Texas law affects only Texas governmental entities. Granger is a federal office holder, so her rights are not limited by Texas law pertaining to Texas governmental entities. She must, however, run in the Republican primary. That is where she is vulnerable.

Re: This is an interesting take on GFZ

Legislation would be quicker, but it may not be necessary. Someday there will be a case in which a HL licensee leaves a firearm behind because of a 30.06 sign and is injured or killed by a non-HL shooter. The injured licensee or his survivors will argue it was negligent for the proprietor to post th...

Re: Child Care

KLB, you should read down to section (i) and you would realize that you can carry unless given 30.06 or 30.07 notice

I stand corrected as to 46.035 (churches, etc.)

I did not find a parallel provision in 46.02 (schools, etc.)

Penal Code 46.03(a): https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/dc/02/4d/dc024db5b7b71d0460d3e6c08a0ecfbc.jpg So is a child-care facility a school? Some surely are. Some few maybe not. I would not risk criminal trespass on the distinction between a child-care facility and a school. Penal Code 46...

Re: Making the right arguments

An argument gun controllers make that caused me to think is that guns are designed to kill. That is not true of automobiles, power saws, and other dangerous products. These other products, however dangerous, have peaceful and socially useful functions. The only way to confront that argument is to ag...

texas3006.com policy on "gunbuster" signs

I understand that gunbuster signs cannot support.a charge of criminal trespass, but they do show a relevant mindset. You're more likely to be asked to leave a place with such a sign. And some of us will choose to comply with a property owner's wishes even if not expressed in compliance with Texas st...
